1965 Ford Mustang "Cobra" theme Additional Info:
This 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback is being offered for sale for the first time since restored. The fastback was purchased from an older friend that put the running car up on blocks in 1974 in a concrete floored building in the dry Texas hill country. The car was in great rust free condition and he intended to redo the 9 year old car but never got around to it. I bought the car in 1998 and started a ground up restoration that was finished in 2006. All the original sheet metal was used. This "Cobra" themed fastback has won many awards and shows. I'll list a few. The fastback won two National Mustang Club of America (MCA) First Place Awards in Modified Class in 2006. One in Augusta, Ga and the other in Las Vegas, Nv. The fastback won the 2006 Participants Choice at the Las Vegas MCA National show out of several hundred cars. It won the Mighty Mustang Award (Best Mustang) at the fall Goodguy's Nationals in Dallas in October of 2006. It won the 2006 Participants Choice Award at the Yellow Rose Ford Classic in Ft Worth. It was invited back this summer to the 30th Annual Yellow Rose Anniversary Show again as a previous winner and it won again as Class Winner out of 28 cars. Judges said it looked as good as it did in 2006.
Carrol Shelby signed the glove box door. Chip Foose signed the passenger visor after reviewing the car at a Dallas show. Pretty cool!
I wanted the restomod car to look period correct at first glance but to have much more horsepower, drive better, but with safer brakes than original. I have listed all the details of the fastback on show boards that I have included pictures of. All pictures of the car are current. The fastback drove over 2,500 miles in the 2016 Hot Rod Power Tour through Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma and back to Tyler, Tx from Tulsa. We drove 6 hour days and the car drove awesome with no issues. A new buyer may want to add Old Air Products under dash a/c to run in warm weather. It is not an expensive add and is easily done. The motor is about 430 horsepower and will easily accommodate A/C. I drive only when its cool outside with the windows down to hear the engine. The exhaust note of this car is very unique and is loved by our local Mustang Club. The car runs and drives awesome. And is fast! You will not be disappointed. Drive it cross country and win, win, win!
