If you want to hold the ultimate trump card in survivor cars, then it's time to pay attention. You're not just looking at a 1968 Ford Shelby Mustang Cobra GT500KR. You're looking at a real-deal 1 of 933 fastbacks, and this has the original numbers-matching 428 Cobra Jet motor. It's in the correct iconic Wimbledon White and original interior. Yes, the car you've always wanted can also be the survivor you'll forever cherish. Oh yeah, and Carroll Shelby signed it, too!Everyone already loves a Wimbledon White Mustang, but having it literally on the King of the Road (KR) makes this one an object other collectors will lust after. The blue rocker triple stripe is a Shelby hallmark and is a nod to America's racing legacy. The in-demand color combo wears its history, but still shines up nicely with good gloss to make sure everyone sees this white knight at the car shows. And there is just no mistaking the Shelby look. The custom fiberglass hood; the functional side scoops; the Lucas fog lights; all the snake-bitten badging; the molded rear deck lid; and the sequential taillights - it all makes an impressive statement, and it all remains on this coupe today. The black bucket seat interior reflects the Shelby cars moving upmarket towards the luxury buyers. With Ford taking a larger control of the production, it meant some premium features were added like the Comfort Weave seats. This is correct to the trim tag, and we believe these are original to the car. In fact, we are hard pressed to see anything that has been replaced in this time capsule of an interior. These Shelbys were a fine place to spend some time because they received the Mustang's deluxe interior with some special additions. This means features like wood grained appliqus on the door, dash, steering wheel and center console with the coiled snake emblem embossed on the armrest. This car even has the super rare Tilt-Away steering option! A folding rear seat, overhead roll bar, and shoulder harnesses are all Shelby must-haves. But it's also civilized enough to drive every day, listening to the original AM radio (ok, there's actually a more modern an adaptable cassette stereo hidden in the armrest.) Pop the fiberglass deck lid and you'll even find a correct mat, space-saver spare tire assembly, and a complete jack, ready for show duty. So, this is the most complete surviving Shelby you've event seen, right? Oh wait, we did definitely find one more modern upgrade...The GT500's daddy will forever be linked with this car because Carroll Shelby signed the passenger side sun visor! The GT500KR received one of Ford's most potent V8s ever, the 428 cubic inch Cobra Jet. This looks fantastically original in the engine bay with the correct Ford blue paint on the block and the Cobra valve covers that brag about their '67 LeMans victory. And because this is such a time capsule of an iconic sports car, of course the motor is original. With a functional ram air and a big Holley four-barrel carburetor, we all knew the 355 horsepower factory rating was a joke of underestimation. Still, the GT500KR was a great car on the road thanks to a beefed up version of the Mustang's GT package, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. This car was meant to be enjoyed, and so it remains easy to maneuver with power steering, front disc brakes, and the factory-optioned C6 three-speed automatic transmission. Completing this package is the grip of modern BF Goodrich T/A radials on those iconic 15-inch 10-spoke wheels.A survivor GT500KR with in the perfect color and anointed by the car's creator. This is the ultimate collectible Shelby Mustang, and we'll show you the Marti Report that proves it. You may want to call today, because you'll regret when it's gone tomorrow!
