This 1956 Ford Thunderbird is an iconic classic with a well-coordinated color combo and all the features you love â€" including the porthole hardtop. It's a distinctive icon that has been treated with the kind of respect that makes it an awesomely smooth V8 cruiser. There's so much to love about a first-generation T-bird. It's rolling elegance with the long flowing lines, rear fender skirts, and the continental kit on the rear. Plus, there are the sporty details,... like the hood scoop and after-burner taillights. So it really knows how to be fast-with-class. This has both the white convertible top and a white porthole hardtop, and when either is combined with the whitewall tires, you get a cool two-tone appearance. This was first restored about 25 years ago, and there are a few upgrades. Some of them are subtle, like the fog lights integrated into where the dual bullets were in the grille. Others will really have people talking, like the paint. Thunderbird Green was a one-year-only color, and not only was the upgrade to this later in life quite thorough (even the undercarriage is green,) but also there was a professional re-application only about five years ago. So you get a very rare classic look but a terrific modern shine. If you like the way the green and white look on the outside, then you're going to love the interior. The color switchover was so thorough that that everything looks correct, right down to the steering wheel. It gives this a uniform look inside and out that will certainly turn heads. The elegance of this car is once again on display with a well-coordinated two-tone, plush carpeting, and features like the plexiglas speedometer window and power windows. And it also has the sporty side, too, with the floor shifter, tachometer, and the machined-turned panel that flows from the doors and across the lower dash. It really gives this the personal cruiser feeling we love in these T-Birds. Under the hood is more signs of proper care and a good life. The smooth green of the engine bay funnels your attention to the red block and bright accessories. This one looks correct, right down to the details, like the pie dish air cleaner and Thunderbird valve covers. The 312 cubic-inch V8 is correct for this P-code car, and it's even believed to be the original block. Topped with a four-barrel carburetor, it makes the proper power to keep this T-Bird cruising. This has been properly maintained, and so the way the V8 fires up and the smooth shifts of the three-speed automatic really make this a terrific classic cruiser. And power steering and power brakes add to this effortless feeling. Complete with owner's manual, this is the Thunderbird that looks, runs, and turns heads exactly as you want.
