1955 Ford Crown Victoria Fairlane Additional Info:
The 1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria
My name is Al Rivera. I am a broker and I have been hired by the seller. A local family member from the estate of a deceased private collector, contacted me to sell this car. I have taken pictures of this sharp time machine with my digital camera. The photos have not been photo shopped or manipulated for this presentation. The pictures represent just how it looks.
I have the pleasure to present this 1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria, which was one of Ford's great success models of the 1950's. It has been in this family for many years and it has been part of the family and with great reluctance, they have decided that it was time to let it go. So for the first time, since it rolled off the showroom floor it is being brought out to be seen and sold.
The Crown Victoria is mostly original, in way, that it has been restored and kept original as possible. The 292 V-8 engine has been rebuilt and has about a 1,500 miles on the engine to date. Also, the automatic transmission was rebuilt about the same time and about the same amount of mileage. Maintenance has always been kept up, more the reason the car has lasted so long and so well. Definitely a Southern California Car. There is some rust noted at the bottom of the trunk lid and rear bumper apron. It has been repainted the same color as designated by Ford. One change was that the owner installed from disc brakes on the front, so it has new rotors and pads. At the same time, went ahead and replaced the rear brakes and put new drums, hardware kit and shoe, and so the brakes are in great condition. Of course, new white wall tires make it look awesome. It does have newer hubcaps, right now, but it was missing one of the originals, so we ordered another original, so we will get a picture up on the auction with the correct period, 1955 Ford Hubcaps soon. The "Vicky" has a new interior, nice new carpet, upholstery and pretty much factory looking. The seats look great and are very comfortable, and the radio works. Not to mention, it has new front end suspension parts, and shocks absorbers too. So this car is just about all new. Starts up, and drives great. Absolutely, turn key. Jump in and go and will take you where you want to go with ease and safety. No accidents that we know of, which is a great sign. If you ever wanted a fifties car to drive around, or even make as your daily driver, this is the one to get. Take a good look, don't let this one slip through your fingers, a fun car and a piece of history too.
Some interesting tidbits of information on the 1955 Ford
The American Ford line of cars gained a new body for 1955 to keep up with surging Chevrolet. Along with a bigger engine size, used in the Thunderbird and the Crown Victoria, the 292 V-8 with 193 horsepower.Apart from the engine changes, customers were sure to notice the new Fairlane, which replaced the Crestlines the top trim level, while a new Crown Victoria-style featured a chrome "basket handle" across the familiar Victoria hard top roof, which originally appeared on the Mercury XM-800 concept car. This use of a styling feature to visually separate the front of the passenger compartment from the rear re appeared on the 1977-1979 Ford Thunderbird, the Ford Fairmont Futura and Mercury Zephyr Z-7 coupes. The company now marketed three different rooflines on its two door models; the tall two pillar Mainline, Customline, and Fairlane sedans, pillarless hard top Fairlane Victoria and the chrome-pillar Fairlane Crown Victoria. The Fairlane Crown Victoria was also offered a transparent "skylighted" top.The Fords introduced for 1955 also featured the panoramic windshields found on Oldsmobile, Buicks and Cadillacs the previous year. With this panoramic windshield the A-pillars have a verticle angle, this give the driver more panoramic visibility.
