Offered today is one 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Fastback 428 Cobra Jet R code. I am helping my friend who is now disabled sell his car collection. First to go was the 57 T bird than the 53 Ford F 100. This car was last as it was hoped that health improvements would come and enjoyment of this beautiful car would be. As this is a muscle car Richie is going to stickwith hisMustang04 GT convertible automatic with power steering and AC.
This1969 Mach 1was originallysold and driven here on Long Island New York. Always garaged. This Mach 1 has been driven very little since 1979. Original color is candy apple red with a black interior. This car is very solid. The mileage is just 94,100.The frame and floors front to back are rock solid as the pictures show.Richie isthe third owner who took possession of this car 15 years ago. A full restoration was always intended. Theengine, transmission andbrakes were rebuilt. note it is originally a3 speed stick now an automatic. The stick pedals are still in the car.The Mach 1 was driven 500 miles over the next 4 years and than the car was put into storage. Always fully insured and registered every year. Driven a few miles every year until 2012. After which it had had been run every year, still the gaswent bad in the tankand has been run now out of a gas can. I ran it yesterday and it is a smooth quiet engine. It has about 500 miles on it!
The original interior has a beautiful headliner, original seats are still looking good. The red insert carpets have to be cleaned but always had floor mats protecting them and still look really nice. The original door panels are in great shape too, with minor cracks on the drivers side. The seat belts are present with bright brass rollers and very nice plastic covers. This car is a perfect candidate for a survivor /driver. OR a most perfect foundation for a top concourse restoration as it is very original.
The engine was rebuilt and I have pictures of the job. This is a COBRA JET engine. The C6 was rebuilt and although it has not seen the road lately it does not leak and it goes into gear. The rear brake line is leaking and prevents the car from being driven. I must say also that the gas in the tank went bad and has been run from an external gas can. I can replace the tank and repair the brake line if Richie and the new owner want me to.
The car was cleaned up and polished so Richie could get pictureswith the car looking good.Richie had a friend spot in the paint in a few places and there was some rust in the outside lower quarter panels. Personally I think thisthis work will need to be redone but the rust was minor. The passenger door has a bad outside corner too.I have before and after pictures of this work. The old paint is checked in quite a few spots and on the roof. Still shines but it will need a repaint sometime down the line.
Iwill also provide pictures from the 70s and 80s The paint job as you can see is very classic and was done in 1976. It is a lacquer job with period pinstripe. This car boasted the fact that it was a 428Cobra/Jet and comes with a race hood and an extra flat hood. Also included are the original wheels and a spare rear bumper. The rear slats were aftermarket from the early 70s.No holes were drilled to install these sportslats and they mounted under the rear window moldings.
The car was driven as you can expect and has seen a few quarter miles. Known as the IRON HORSE, this is a special car. I do know the car was in an accident in the front andwhile the original aprons are still intact I can tell you they were repaired not replaced as there are a few telltale signs that need to be dollied out. The radiator support was replaced. There is a dime size hole in the rear taillight panel and a closed hole in the drivers quarter panel that was for an old style alarm with key. The bottoms of the doors are beautiful as are the door jambs. no rust there. The front valance is rough and I think there is an original chin spoiler in Richie's garage. There are two extra hoods, One snorkel and one flat that should eventually be used. And anNOS shaker seal. There are other extra parts in boxes too that Richie has also. The shaker is an original to, the base is not. It has a Edelbrock intake and a Replacement Holley carb.
The original body buck tag has a ton of information on it, the original door tag is right where Ford put it and the VIN tag is right there on the drivers side under the windshield. This car was originally a 428 Cobra Jet with a 4 Speed toploader with a 350 Traction Loc. It is now an automatic C6 with a 275 open. Still has the staggered shocks and sports traction bars.
So here is a very solid 428 Cobra jet that runs Beautifully. Has an extremely solid frame and floor. Can be driven AS IS with minimal work and will be a very good investment. Red with a black interior. This is a great color combination and I almost forgot to mention the trim is in very nice shape too!
Please note that the car is being sold AS/IS with clear paperwork. I advise to ask any and all questions PRIOR to Winning the auction. Note,
Richie had the engine and transmissionrebuilt and added the automatic as he always needed to drive automatics. The original transmission was a 4 speed toploader not a 3 speed as I wrote in the earlier description. The car is located in Amityville 11701 zip.New York and I can show it anytime. Thanks Perry.
