1954 Ford Tudor Customline Only 37,545 Actual Miles From New Extremely Original Highland Green Metallic / Green Block Cloth VIDEO WITH LISTING VIN: A4GG171461 a: 223ci I6 4: 1954 Model Year G: Chicago, IL Assembly Plant G: Customline / Mainline 171461: Unit Number Engine: EBP-6015-A Trans: AD-6068-C-14C Body: Tudor (70B) Color: Highland Green Metallic (F) Trim: Green Block Pattern (C) Build Date: July 20th (20G) Production Code: CH5565A Price New After Options & Tax: $2,351 Wheelbase: 115.5” Weight: 3,160lbs We purchased this fantastic ‘54 Tudor from a local gentleman, the second owner, who had owned the car since 1974. He... had bought the car in ‘74 from the original owner, his neighbor. Sold new at Joliet Motor Sales of Joliet, IL, the car was stayed in Joliet all the way from new until 2019. The car will actually come with the original sales contract from when it was sold new in ‘54, a copy of the paid invoice breaking down the dealer-installed options the buyer opted for, as well as the ‘74 title. Nearly $3k of service receipts for maintenance completed under our ownership will come with the car as well. The car sat in a garage largely unused for the last couple decades, so since purchasing the car we’ve gone through and serviced it where necessary. First off, the fuel tank was drained and repaired. Fuel pump was replaced. 6V battery was replaced. Brake master cylinder, all four wheel cylinders, and brake lines were replaced. Brake drums and shoes were sanded down. The emergency brake was repaired. Distributor wiring was repaired, points were set. As it sits now, this low-mile, very original Tudor is running beautifully and is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner. Exterior: - Please see the video along with the listing, as the car is covered in detail. Blemishes are all shown close up and under direct sunlight. - Car wears a respray of its original color, Highland Green Metallic. We put a paint gauge on every panel and were very pleased with the findings. This is an extremely dry body that only appears to have been resprayed once. Paint gauge readings range from 2.8 to 6.0, with the majority of the car falling in the high 3s. Respray is what we’d call B+ level. A nice, deep color with great shine, but there are some tiny little dust nibs around the rear portion of the rockers. - Chrome is quite good throughout. Front and rear bumpers show just the tiniest bit of oxidation, window trim and mid-line trim is very nice. - Wheels are in great shape. The red hubcap centers show some fade, but the hubcaps themselves are nice and intact. Tires, while in decent shape, are older than would be ideal and we’d recommend replacing sooner rather than later. - Glass is all clear and crack-free, as are light lenses. Lights and signals are functional. - Panel fitment is excellent. Doors open and close nice and smoothly. Interior: - Please defer to the photos and video, as the original, unrestored interior is shown in detail. Green block cloth is an excellent match to the Highland Green metallic exterior. There is one tear in the driver’s seat bottom, see photo. There is also a tear on the outside of the passenger’s front seat bottom. Aside from those two blemishes, the interior is pretty impressive. Dash is excellent. - Gauges are all functional, including the odometer. Odometer reads 37,545 and is accurate based on known history from new and the level of observable wear. In person, it’s clear that this is a very low-mile, well-kept example. We love the clear speedometer on these cars. - Blower/Heat/Defrost is functional. This car does not have AC. Radio is functional. Analog clock is not functional. - Original one-piece floormat is in great shape. Car will also come with a set of four rubber floormats. Other extras with the car include its original 1954 green Illinois license plates and the original full size spare. Under the Hood / Underbody: - Underbody is really, really dry. Take a look through the photos, but for an unrestored Ford of this vintage, this thing is pretty impressive. Frame rails and floors are nice and solid. - The car runs and drives nicely. It fires right up first turn, idles cool, steady, and quiet, and hums along nicely through the gears. The car shifts smoothly, and the clutch feels great. While we had all four wheel cylinders replaced, as well as the brake master, the car does pull to the left under braking just the tiniest bit. But it does stop quite well. No rattles or suspension clunks, just a smooth, uneventful ride. Nice car. With any further questions, requests, or to discuss purchasing, please reach out to Jake at 773-273-8257.
