1931 Ford Model A Additional Info:
Selling my Model A chassis with B motor.
I acquired this chassis last summer from the son of an older Model A guy that had passed away. It came to me with the typical story of the engine having been rebuilt, but hardly used, etc.
When I got it, I made it run to verify that it was a good motor. I brought it to temp and shifted it through the gears. Once I was satisfied that it was a good running B motor and a nice chassis, I started tinkering on it, painted it, dropped a modern distributor in it, located a down draft intake, etc. I can send you video of it running last summer in stock form, before these additions. It should be noted that the intake and exhaust manifolds are just mocked up, they have not been secured and torqued. Here are some of the things I've done to this chassis:
-Converted rear brakes to hydraulic using 46-48 parts. All the parts are new, they just need to be plumbed.
-Converted front brakes to hydraulic, using 40-style parts, all of which are new.
(backing plates are loaded and off the car, the drums just bolted on to roll around.)
-Front axle is a Model A, dropped 4" with '39 + round back spindles adapted.
-Front spring is stock A with the exception of a new reverse eye main leaf.
-King pins are new and the bushings were cleanly and correctly honed by a machine shop for a perfect fit.
-I replaced the head gasket for good measure. A high quality copper gasket was used.
-The distributor is a new Mallory unit.
-Generator was just professionally converted to 12 volt (done by Bill at PMX)
-Tires are brand new Firestone 7.50/16 in the rear and 5.50/16 in the front. Tubes are also new.
-1935 Ford wire wheels
I do have the stock fuel pump and a 94
The rest of the chassis is also nice. The frame is extremely nice and straight, with no heavy pitting and no damaged and repaired front horns, like a lot of them have. There was one fender bracket that was welded onto the frame at one point in it's life and then cut off. It just needs to be ground off, I hadn't gotten to it.
Again, I can text or email a short video of this chassis running in stock form. It will need someone to spend a weekend on it to run with the downdraft and distributor in place now.
Other items that can be included are the stock front end that came out from under it, an A radiator or 32 4 cylinder radiator, stock A steering box and column and a few other odds and ends. I have other things too if you're looking for something specific.
There is no title for this chassis, although I do have a '30 roadster title for sale separately..
This is a good chassis for someone with a body laying around, or a great platform to build from. I found something else I can't live without and decided to sell this to make some room.
Location is near Portland, Oregon.
-NOTE - THERE IS NO TITLE FOR THIS CHASSIS
