1988 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat Additional Info:
Purchased this as a personal driver and for light work use, but doesn’t pass smog in CA so haven’t been able to register. Don’t have the money or expertise to do what it needs. Runs extremely well, shifts and handles smoothly, and overall is in very good condition with low miles for the age. Listing specific pros and cons below. The camper shell in the photos has no key and is held on by C-clamps; you can take it or leave it. Title in hand from previous owner. Buyer responsible for back-tags (current 2016) and smog; recommend out-of-CA buyers due to the smog issue. Will work with shipping companies, but buyer is responsible for shipping.
The good:- Solid overall condition- Interior is in excellent shape- Runs fabulously, including in 4-Hi and 4-Lo- New battery and battery terminals- New alternator- New starter solenoid- New ignition switch- New spark plugs, spark plug wires, and distributor cap- New heater hoses- 3/4 or more remaining tire tread depth- Small nicks and dings, but no major damage- Very minimal rust
- The bad:- Has a gas leak in or around the rear gas tank. Functions and runs perfectly fine on the forward tank, but this is the largest issue and why it will not pass smog.- Will not turn-key start, but fires up perfectly when jumping the starter solenoid.- Needs new window motors and door locks- May have a small leak somewhere in the brake lines- A lot of play in the gear shifters- Speedometer needle does not work- Cleaning and minor cosmetic issues
While this truck can use a bit of TLC, it has solid bones and can be used and driven immediately upon purchase without any known worries (except maybe for the speedometer issue).
