1965 Ford Mustang Original Panels Rust Free Texas Car Additional Info:

This car is an excellent example as to why smart classic car shoppers do their buying in Texas. The story on this beauty is that it was restored approximately ten years ago by a son for his Mother. At that time the car had the motor rebuilt with an Edelbrock performer cam, an Edelbrock intake, an Edelbrock 600 carburetor (w/electronic choke), Petronix ignition, and headers. In preparation for sale it has new plugs, new plug wires, distributor cap, etc. There has been approximately 3000 miles put on the engine since the rebuild and it starts and runs exceptionally well. It blows no smoke on start up and idles quickly after start. I don't know what the mufflers are but it runs fairly quiet. It isn't a hot rod but it has enough pep to burn a nice patch of rubber!
The interior colors are the best I have ever seen. It is a beautiful two tone of reddish bronze and tan. The interior has no rips or tears and none of the seams are beginning to come apart. Furthermore, all of the material is supple. The convertible top has new weather stripping, the rear window is clear and soft, but right where it begins to fold into the boot it has rubbed the edge of the top and it has begun to fray the outer edge.
The paint is driver quality that has a number of touch ups. Nevertheless, it still looks good and no one who sees the car is going to say it needs to be painted. This car can be driven today and will still steal the looks from the modern plastic cars when you're together at the stop light. The flaws are not obvious. Just ordinary wear and tear chips and scratches marking the miles.
Regarding function, it steers, stops, turns, etc., like a well preserved and cared for car. All of the steering components and brakes were done at the time of restoration and there are no signs of deterioration. On the inside every gauge works (temp., oil pressure and ammeter), the windshield wipers work on all speeds, the windshield washer unit functions, the speedometer works, the horn works, the radio/cassette player works, all interior courtesy lights work, the blinkers, brake lights, head lights, high beams, and dash lights all work. Only the cigarette lighter and the heater blower don't work. I have yet to investigate them but may do so and update the ad.
I have owned a number of Mustangs over my 60 years and this one is right up there for excellent original sheet metal. I have posted two photos and one can see that even though there is no undercoating there isn't any rust. Everything is solid including the inner rear quarters (drops), the torque boxes, the floors, theframe rails, the shock towers, the battery tray, under the battery tray, and for good measure I dumped a bunch of water down into the cowl and not a drop came into the interior. This is a very clean car and NOT a "rustang." It would be an excellent candidate for a rotisserie restoration and certainly a car that deserves a new owner who will preserve it for future generations.
