Car is probably one of the top 5 un-restored, 90% original paint Fairlanes in the world. Really amazing mostly un-restored vehicle! Never any rust or accidents and was owned by the original owner up through 1999 and second owner owned for 17 years. Been in dry CA, Denver, CO, and FL its' whole life and always garage kept. driven on nice days only as evident by the completely rust free underside that shows its original beautiful floorpans, red oxide primer, factory undercoating and pinch weld overspray, etc. Second owner was a very experienced hot rodder from the 60's and added the 427 hood (believed to be an original Ford unit) and installed the freshly built in 2015 (less than 3K miles since) balanced and blueprinted 390 GT engine with massaged 427 medium riser cylinder heads with hardened valve seats for unleaded fuel, port matched Edelbrock Streetmaster aluminum intake manifold with aDemon 650 CFM carburetor with electric choke,, MSD electronic ignition with new plug wires and plugs, and work of art (and very expensive}ceramic coated Doug's headers, original finned Cobra 7.5 quart aluminum oil pan,March serpentine belt system, and a nice rum-pity rump camshaft. Engine is conservatively rated at 470 HP and 490ft lbs of torque with plenty of bottom end grunt too. Engine mounts are the super strong Black Eagle units which keep the engine from tearing off the frame like stock ones do with his amount of big block torque. Cooling system consists of a new hi flow FTE water pump and aluminum TIG welded radiator with Flex-a Lite fan and Scott Drake shroud/overflow tank. Car never gets hot even in 100 degree desert heat. Engine absolutely runs as well as it sounds through its 2.5" exhaust with glasspack muffers. Transmission is a fully built C-4 automatic with shift kit and PA torque converter and 26390 Pro Fit bellhousing with a billet Lokar dipstick and tube. It is mated to a Gear Vendors style American Overdrive unit which has also been rebuilt and drops engine RPM to low 2000's at highway speeds at the flip of a switch!! Driveshaft is high speed balanced and is smooth even at speeds of 100+ MPH. Rear end has been redone with 3.80 gears with new bearings and rebuilt 4 spyder gear limited slip unit and an Addco rear sway bar to keep the rear end in place in the turns. Shocks are fully adjustable Viking units all around and front springs have been upgraded to 620 LB units. 4 wheel disc brakes are from Stainless Steel Brake Corporation (SSBC) all also new with duel reservoir master cylinder. Wheels are American Racing Halibrand style 6.5" front and 8" rear. Interior is almost completely original with immaculate dash,steering wheel, headliner, door panels, carpet and rear panels. Horn even works! Bucket seats and rear bench have been re-done is high quality glove leather (not vinyl) and are what you'd expect in a high end European car. The original paint with is thin spots, touch ups and patina is really cool too. With original paint, you know there is nothing hiding under the paint. Paint is so cool and clean, it would be a shame to change it. It is almost impossible to find one of these cars where the bodies are so clean and un-fiddled with The survivor cars are the whole new trend now and this one shows beautifully. Most old cars don't drive as well as they look....this one absolutely does and is a blast to drive. It gets thumbs up where ever you go and cruises at freeway speeds with ease due to the overdrive. Car does not ever stall, have any flat spots, and does not run hot even in the hottest of days in traffic. It is also easy to drive and a great amount of fun. This car is really nice from top to bottom!! Any other collector car you may be looking at, make sure they have underside shots. Even super low mileage cars if stored in humid area, the undersides are rusty and corroded just from the air. This one is super clean and the many underside pictures show this. You can see all the original red oxide primer, original undercoating, and even the black out factory pinch weld spray that Ford did. car is as solid as can be! This is a Buy It Now auction and it will sell and you will not find another like it for such a great price with several tasteful, functional, upgrades, such low mileage (88K original on body, and OCD maintenance since new. Not even any wrinkles on the seats and they have been done in glove soft white leather with new memory foam. These seats are VERY comfortable!! Inside of the truck boasts the original glue for trunk mat and original undercoating on inside of the quarter panels. You just don't see them this clean!! In my 25+ years in the automotive business, I have rarely seen, owned, or driven a nicer built and well vehicle that is so fantastically built and taken care of. I have owned over 1000 Mustangs, Shelby's, Big Block's, Boss's, Pantera's, Saleen's, Corvette's, Camaros, Roush's, Cobra's. Lightning's etc, mostly collector models, and rarely see a vehicle (of ANY type) kept in this condition that is over 50 years old. I am overly fanatical with all my cars, but rarely see others that are like me. Suspension and steering is smooth and not bouncy or twitchy when driving down the road, or on the freeway and handles beautifully. Does not wander when on freeway. This Fairlane is appraised and insured for $40K on a collector car policy through Hagerty Collector Car Insurance and it is $225 per year for full coverage and agreed value of $40K with no mileage limitation. In summary: EVERYTHING works properly as intended except for the heater as the heater core has been bypassed and needs to be replaced if you need heat in your area!! No burnt out bulbs anywhere, the dash lights, gauges, all work perfectly and are accurate. You can let it idle all day in 100 degree heat and it does not get hot. This beautiful Fairlane is absolutely like a step back in time. It runs and drives excellent and has never been raced or driven hard. There are no odd odors, odd rattles, or odd noises. There is very little wind noise with the windows up. You can drive thiscar anywhere. Mileage may also varyminimallyascar may be driven for supervised test drives and/or inspections and I do drive it sometimes around the block after letting it warm up to keep fluids flowing through all systems. Car will still be kept indoors when not being driven. Please feel free to ask questions and I will answer promptly. This car doesn't need a thing to enjoy right away. It is a no excuse, honest car, that needs nothing to use it immediately. It is done right and completely sorted from top to bottom, front to back.
