1969 Ford Mustang Additional Info:
Although the weather across the country at the moment can be a bit of a downer, rest assured, Spring is just around the corner and now is the time to add that classic Mustang to your garage that you have always lusted after!
The car offered here is, easily, the nicest 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Clone/Tribute which I have seen in person not only because of the car's meticulous cosmetic detail but also because of the great deal of substantial performance parts used in the build of the car.
CosmeticsThis Mach 1 is finished in an gorgeous coat of Gulfstream Aqua Ford Blue. The paint on this car is really remarkable. I have taken pictures to attempt to show the high quality of the paint, the fit and finish of the stainless trim, the well done body gaps, and the quality of the chrome on the vehicle. Hopefully these pictures do a good job of showing how nice the various aspects of the car are but, rest assured, the car is likely nicer from a cosmetic perspective than I have made it look in the photographs. With the rising costs of labor and paint materials in today's automotive restoration industry, what is remarkable about this car is that a paint job to the quality of the one currently displayed on the car would easily cost you 2/3 of the asking price on its own. Aside from that, seeing as a tribute car has a pretty clear ceiling in values, examples of Mach 1 tribute cars which generally show up on the market are often pieced together, poorly done, or cheaply executed. This particular example stands out because it is finished to a level which would only be expected of a vintage Mustang worth twice or three times what this one is being offered at.
InteriorAlthough a few rocks and pebbles are visible in the car's foot-wells in the photographs, the interior of the car presents extremely well and in a "nearly new" fashion. Since being built, the car has not been driven or used much and, in result, the upholstery does not show signs of regular use or wear. The door panels are in excellent condition, the headliner presents extremely well, and dash presents as new. The interior of the car is, overall, in extremely nice condition. The car features an absolutely wonderful sound system with a modern in-dash AM/FM stereo system as well as powerful speakers mounted on the rear shelf behind the back seats. One must be careful when initially firing the radio up as I made the mistake of doing so when the last user had it set to a very loud setting. The system sounds great and has a ton of volume- perfect for cruising in the spring and summertime and listening to your favorite band. The interior is complimented also by an aftermarket steering wheel but, otherwise, the interior is all stock and is as would be expected for a 1969 Mach 1 with its high back buckets, center console, and Ford racing shift knob.
MechanicalMuch like the cosmetic aspects of this particular Mach 1 Tribute, the car is remarkably well executed from a mechanical perspective as well. The car is powered by a 351-4V Windsor V8 which is fed through a newly rebuilt Holley 4160 series, List 80451 600CFM carburetor with electric choke. That carb directs fuel and air down through an aluminum Edelbrock Performer intake manifold and the engine breaths through a pair of very well done racing headers. The exhaust note on the car has a nice rumble to it with a strong idle. The cam seems quitestreet-ableand the car has an overall tough, period correct sounding exhaust without the volume being too aggressive. As stated previously, the Holley carb on this car has just been rebuilt two days before writing this ad. In addition, a new battery was installed in the car last week.Power is transferredfrom the engine through a stout 4 speed Toploader transmission which is shifted through a very smooth and very direct Hurst short-throw shifter! The car runs and drives well with comfort being provided by the car's power steering and power brake setup as seen in the photographs. The car is currently riding on a nice looking set of BF Goodrich Radial TAs with those aggressive white letters!
SummaryOverall, it is tough to imagine that this particular 1969 Mach 1 clone could be built today to the level of quality which this example displays for less than double the asking price. This 1969 Mustang Mach 1 would make for an excellent addition to anyone's existing collection of Mustangs but would also make for a wonderful entry level purchase for the first time buyer out there who wants to dip his or her toe into the vintage Mustang world. This example is finished to a very high level of quality, is done in a very desirable factory color, and simply ticks nearly every box that a vintage Mustang enthusiast could ask for in a potential purchase.
