1927 Ford Model T Additional Info:
Up for sale is this 1927 Model T roadster pick-up that sits atop a very nice and solid 1928 Model AR frame and is titled as such. The frame retains the Model A mechanical brakes that work as great as the day they rolled off Henry Ford’s assembly line. The entire suspension assembly, front and back, are all stock Model A components and are in fantastic condition. Both front and rear springs have had leaves removed and the front spring has a reversed eye main leaf. Front shocks are very nice stock Model A shocks and there are currently none on the back.
Power comes from a Model A diamond block that has a Winfield SU1A cam, Winfield single carb intake with a Stromberg 97 carb atop, Mallory distributor, and exhaust comes out a customized header reminiscent of a 1936 Ford torque tube. A 6 volt PowerGen keeps the battery juiced. There are also aftermarket floating engine mounts. The engine is mated up to a T170 4-speed overdrive transmission that has been converted to work with the Model A torque tube and enclosed driveshaft. The Model A rear end has been professionally rebuilt and features 3:78 gears. This hot rod will cruise on the highway and keep up with traffic great. This hot rod sits on one of the nicest sets of Kelsey Hayes bent-spoke wheels you’ll ever find, complete with the original yellow paint on them. 5.00x16 dirt track tires up front and older 7.50x16 Denman tires out back.
The body has a 1934 Ford pick-up dashboard cut and fit to the cowl which houses a 1932 Ford speedometer and two curved glass Stewart-Warner gauges (oil and water temp). There is a reproduction 1939 Ford banjo steering wheel mounted to a 1934 Ford steering box. The roadster pick-up body is not the nicest you’ll find, but it is structurally sound. There is rust-through on both cowl sides as well as the rear corners. The bed has been put to use as a truck bed and it shows. There are some dents and creases in the sheet metal behind the doors and some not-so-pretty work done on top as well. There are a couple body filler pieces that fits between the cabin and the bed that goes with this car. The body is the downfall of this hot rod, but also goes to show that this is a hot rod you can hop in and drive to the grocery store and not worry about parking lot door dings. This is a hot rod that was built to be driven and enjoyed and has been. However, it’s time that this hot rod got passed onto its next caretaker and enjoyed for what it is, a proper gow job.
