General
This is a nice hot rod that was built from a restored car. The only body modification is the removal of the handle on the rumble seat deck lid and the step pad on top of the fender.
While this coupe shows very well, it’s not a “show car” and gets driven regularly. The paint is shiny and flat with no bubbling, cracking or crazing, but you can see some imperfections under the paint surface on each door. The fronts of the fenders have rock chips that have been touched up. The body, fenders and floors are original Ford items and the original running boards were recovered 25+ years ago and the rubber looks good and correct and fits well.
The interior is a LeBaron Bonney kit done when the car was originally restored with exception of the carpet that’s been updated in the last several years. The dash and garnish moldings are done in woodgrain and look presentable but are not high end. The column and steering wheel is a 40 Ford set up and the stock gauges have been updated and converted to modern standards and work great. The cowl vent, rear glass and all side glass work properly. The doors close with a gentle click and have decent gaps.
The stock chassis has been converted with Chassis Engineering components and everything has been dialed in to track straight and steer without a lot of fight and wandering. The underside is relatively clean for a car that gets driven and there’s no buildup of grease or excessive grime.
The engine was fully rebuilt when installed and it does not smoke or over heat. I drive in Phoenix summer traffic and it never over heats and never pukes a puddle of coolant when you shut it off. The rear main seeps and will leave a spot if you don’t drive the car for a couple of weeks.
*This is not a trailer queen and it does get driven regularly and the overall condition shows a car that is enjoyed and well maintained.*
