1969 Ford Thunderbird 4 Door Landau Additional Info:

You are bidding on a 1969 Thunderbird Landau - Four Door with the 429 cubic inch "Thunderjet" engine.

She is in fine original condition and has 72,000 original miles.

With a proper tune up, which we did, she started right up and runs very well. There is an exhaust leak in the rear section which we will try to fix prior to delivery to the new owner.

The recent tune up included:

New spark plugs

New spark plug wires

New rotor cap

New points and condenser

New coil

New gas filter

New fuel pump

Oil is changed as was the oil filter.

Tires are older and probably should be changed.

The interior is in remarkably good shape. My grandfather had a 1969 Ford LTD and this reminds me very much of that car. All glass is in good condition too.

Radio works intermittently, probably a wire but we'll look at this before a sale.

Brakes are fine.

Transmission shifts fine.

She has power windows.

The engine runs very well - delivers 360 horsepower, tops out at 137mph and is said to go from 0-60 in 8.1 seconds. Not fast by today's standards but pretty quick in 1969, especially for a four door hardtop.

The unique, and collectible, aspect of the 1969 Thunderbird dour door Landau is the suicide rear doors. Much like the Lincoln Continental, the rear doors open front first. When both doors are open, the entire interior is exposed. A very cool feature. She also has the landau bar behind the C pillar. Cool.

The headlights are vacuum activated and flip down when not in use. I have not fiddled with them and they will need attention. Probably a broken or leaking vacuum line. Not a hard fix.

Being inside of the Thunderbird is like stepping back into 1969. The back seat looks as though no one ever sat on it. The blinded C pillar shields you from the outside view - so you are in a cocoon. Very limo like. The interior is all fabric, not leather - and that fabric is a throwback to a time when the quality of the material was important. It's also pretty durable.

The dashboard is also retro cool. All four original hubcaps are present - but she'd look great in mag wheels or wires.

I have new door handles (a set of four), the current ones are pitted, which I'll add to the sale.

Most of the exterior trim is Stainless, thus easy to polish and rust free. No trim pieces are missing. The car is 100% complete.

The paint is faded, but a good compound would make it presentable for now. The vinyl top needs to be replaced.

She does have A/C - its non op currently.

The mileage is low, for a 1969 automobile, and she has lots of life left in her.

When was the last time you've seen a 1969 Tbird at a car show. They only made 13,712, four door landau's with bench seats. No one thought she would be collectible so most were junked. The car cost $4,964 in 1969, so she was a car for the well healed.

I would not drive her home after purchase. She'd probably make it but why put the mileage on her? I can assist in locating a transport or load the car (she'll drive onto the trailer, of course). I cannot hold the car more than a week after sale.

My loss, your gain. I'm loosing money selling her, but I have too many cars.

She is sold as is - where is. No warranty is expressed or implied. Deposit via PayPal is non refundable - no exceptions. I can assist with shipping and hold the car for up to 7 days, but only if paid for in a timely manner. Wire funds preferred within 7 days of auction close. I report bidders that don't fulfill their contractual obligation to purchase the car. Bidding and winning means you bought the car not that you can now come inspect it. You are welcomed to inspect the car before the auction closes. Test drives can be accommodated also.

Clear and clean title in hand. No accident history known.

Please email questions. All are answered. Also, more pictures can be sent - just ask.

Good Luck Bidding!
