1930 Ford Model A Additional Info:
For your consideration is my Standard Two Window Sedan. The Standard models are fairly rare with 5,279 being built the first three months of 1930. There is evidence that this is one of the first fourteen 1930 Blindbacks built at the Detroit River Rouge Plant in late November of 1929. The published research I have to suggest this is true, will be provided with the car.
I restored this car myself from a very nice original that had been previously restored in the 1970's. Although I am not a professional restorer (yet), my efforts scored 488 points in Touring Class judging at theModel A Restorers Club 2017National Meet held in Gettysburg, PA. There are a number of things on this car that are not perfect, but everything is very nice. We just returned from a 750 mile trip in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and the car performed very well. It has an Antique Engine Rebuilders balanced and insert bearing touring engine. The transmission has new main shaft sealed bearings. The brakes are cast iron drum with all new hardware and woven linings. New tires with metal stem tubes, four working shocks and a rebuilt two tooth steering box. The horn is strong, all the lights work, even the dash and dome light. The wiper motor operates as it should. I put a Power Master alternator on the car, and it works well, although I can't keep the belt from slipping at higher speeds. The alternatorlooks like an original generator, complete with a dummy cut out. As with everything else (except the engine) I did the interior myself, and it turned out pretty well. Not show, but comfy and clean. This is a nice driving car. It starts instantly hot or cold and will run 55 without much fuss, although I am much more comfortable driving it in the 40-45 range. If you want to drive fast, buy a Mustang. If you want to enjoy easy touring with other Model A's, this is your car.The paint is base coat, clear coat Chicle and Copra Drab in the correct shades using the paint formulas of a high scoring fine point coupe. I am not a professional painter, but it turned out nice. My pin striping looks like Stevie Wonder did it in a few spots, but it is also presentable. Nearly everything that is black on the chassis is a beautiful high gloss powder coat. The chrome is by Craig Riker, and is the correct Butler finish on the dash, gear shift and parking brake levers. All the interior hardware is either rechromed original, or rechromed reproduction to get rid of the Taiwan shine.
Problems. Not many. The previously mentioned belt slippage, which I think would be remedied with a belt that fills the pully better. The left back door is scuffing the paint on the curved sill (pictured). The doors are straight and shut nice.
This is not a show car, but will present itself very well in any crowd. If you have ever restored a car, you know the opening bid is way less than the cost of the restoration. I don't do this to make money, I just really love Model A's, and it is time to move on to another one.I will not take lower offers, so don't ask. The auction runs to the end, and if it doesn't sell I may relist, but I will gladly keep it another touring season.
Thanks for looking and don't hesitate to request more pictures (be specific) or ask questions. If you live close, I can show it with a little notice. Bank check, transfer, or good old cash. Please, NO PAYPAL. I can continue to store the car a reasonable amount of time after the sale, and will work with your shipper.
