1961 Ford Galaxie HI-PO Z-code 401HP
Proper rebuild on the engine [see the receipts]; as far as I know it's likely the original engine if they kept the rpm reasonable. Rebuilt with hard exhaust seats, new valve guides, heavy duty oil pump, new large capacity oil pan, long tubing headers, and balanced.
Top loader 4-speed, Hurst shifter, new 3.70 gears, new positraction clutches, 31-spline axles, traction bars, new u-joints, new clutch, new brake hydraulic cylinders and hoses, carburetor kits, new fuel pump, new aluminum radiator, new water pump, Weld Racing wheels, new 90-amp alternator. Driven regularly.
Unsubstantiated - as new this was supposedly a drag strip car setup by Holman and Moody for a Ford Dealer in Delaware. Maybe someone can crack that story. In those days the work order was by owner's name, not VIN; you'll have to do some sleuthing.
Telltale signs this may be true, take a look at the accelerator pedal - a heavy foot has been at work, safety-wired bolts for the motor mounts [typical H&M], original hi-capacity oil pan included, fiberglass fenders, hood, and front bumper.
There are now supposedly only 100 to 120 of these HI-PO Starliners existing with the correct engine. They were drag race cars for the most part, the engines thus suffering the rigors of mortis thereof and removed. So here is a survivor with the correct engine. I bought it 1-1/2 years ago because it was a rarity, did the mechanicals and now for sale.
Typical floor pan and trunk issues, but repaired. No observable frame rust, it was undercoated a very long time ago. Repainted red from previous white; there are two spots that have primer for unknown reason.
$1,000 non-refundable deposit due within 24 hours; balance payable bycashier's check or cash in person.
If unsold here, see it at the Daytona Turkey Run at Daytona International Speedway, 11/22 - 11/25; look for spot S2-A-1102;bring large dead presidents.
