1950 FORD DELUXE FORDOR SEDAN
78,000 original miles, beautiful Sheridan blue with gray cloth interior, one family ownership since my grandfather bought this car new. It has been in my possession since 1993, no accidents or body damage ever, stored for 30 years before 2 1/2-year, total body-lifted-off-the-frame restoration completed in 1996 at about 60,000 miles. Carefully maintained since then, shown occasionally and driven at least weekly. Car is currently registered in Maryland with clean title. Always garaged since new, currently kept in heated / air-conditioned garage.
Dennis Carpenter-rebuilt239 c.i.flathead 8BA V-8 engine with hardened valve seats (runs on unleaded gas), 100 HP, 3-speed trans with overdrive. Excellent restored body, frame, paint, mechanicals and electricals. Repaint performed using original DuPont sample chips for body, interior and engine bay color matching. Original wheels powder coated for use with tubeless tires. High-quality, original style LeBaron-Bonney mohair & vinyl interior showing no wear. All restoration work documented with receipts and photo album. No hot rod parts: car is all stock and as original with exception of seat belts (welded floor mounts), outside rearview mirrors and Coker whitewall radials for driving safety. Great heater / defroster. Clutch, brakes, battery, suspension components (shocks & idler arm) and radiator hoses done within the past couple of years. New windshield; all other glass is original Ford script and very good condition. Some spare parts (carburetor, NOS oil pump, generator, etc.) included, along with owner's and service manuals.
This car is a turnkey driver that starts and runs reliably, rides smooth, steers and stops straight, is not rusty, and has no lurking problems. The only imperfection is that the overdrive works most of the time, but not always when hot; this is not a significant issue for me as I seldom drive it on the highway. I got this car with no thought of ever selling, so I knew the restoration cost ($40K) would far exceed the likely resale value. In view of my own creeping health issues, I am now reluctantly willing to sell. American Collectors insurance policy is based on assessed value of $17K. THE RESERVE IS $9,995.
No trades or international sales. Feel free to ask questions before bidding, and I will provide prompt, honest answers. I am a private seller, not a dealer or broker, so no financing or time payment requests please. $500 non-refundable deposit required within 5 business days of auction closing; balance by electronic transfer or cashier's check due within 10 additional business days. Will deliver locally (Maryland / Virginia / DC metro area).
