In 1942, Ford Motor Company along with many other domestic automakers ceased civilian vehicle production in lieu of war production for WWII. When the war was over, the American public was hungry for new cars and Ford was eager to deliver. The most efficient route to a new 1946 Ford was to simply give the 1942 Ford a facelift, so that is exactly what was done. The 1948 Ford was the last of this generation, and under the exterior was... nearly identical to the last pre-war Fords. This particular 1948 Ford two door received street-rodification some time ago, and remains a timeless piece both in classic and street rod segments-at least from the outside. Step inside and it immediately becomes clear this was the pride and joy of someone along its life. You'll notice it received the seats and a console from a 1988-89 Pontiac Grand Prix and though it may sound like an odd combination, the Pontiac interior has been almost seamlessly integrated to the inside of the Ford and feels as if it was designed to be transplanted into this car! Additionally, it is worth noting that this interior is 1988-89 only and is a rare find both in this condition and color. The gauge cluster is a custom job made up of VDO gauges and there is a modern single DIN radio mounted in the dash. The GM steering column has an aftermarket steering wheel mounted to it, true to the era in which this car was built. The exterior is an older paint job, presumably done when the car was turned into a rod. It looks great from a few feet away, but is beginning to show its age up close in addition to signs of use such as scratches and touchups. The wheels are vintage slotted mags which really give this rod a classic feel! A quick walk around the car will reveal custom taillights and bumpers. Lifting up the enormous hood reveals a small block Chevrolet 350 V8 with headers and an aluminum intake that has recently received a tuneup. This stylish custom Ford was built to be a unique cruiser, and the unique Pontiac interior is sure to start some conversations! Overall, the condition is good enough to be comfortably enjoyed as-is, or to be a great starting point to create your dream street rod.
