Looking classic 1950s, the dark red paint is contrasted by a black convertible top with red piping and the wheels are color-keyed steel with chrome hubcaps and trim rings, all wrapped in Goodyear wide whitewall tires.
Inside, the two-tone interior continues the theme with red and black seats along with a red-painted dash with black carpet and door panels.
The flathead V-8 is topped by a downdraft carburetor and oil-bath air cleaner.
Options include the 3-speed manual transmission with overdrive, pushbutton eight-tube AM radio, Magic Aire heater, dash clock and front and rear bumper guards.
While the 1950 Ford appeared identical to the 1949 models, Ford promoted them as having "50 improvements for '50"
Those updates fixed some of the problems from 1949 and included pushbutton door handles, repositioned parking lights, newly designed hood ornaments, a recessed gas filler neck, non-sag front-seat springs and a three-blade cooling fan.
Overall, the 1950 Ford was tighter and quieter through the turns and on rough roads.
The Custom model added convenience items like a horn ring, two sun visors, door-panel armrests and a locking glove-compartment door.
The 1950 Ford was one of America's most popular models with more than 1.2 million produced.
Of those, just more than 50,000 -or about 4 percent- were Custom V-8 convertibles like the one purchased new by Robert Fischbeck.
A beautiful car with an incredible story to tell - this unique 1950 Ford Custom Convertible is the perfect car for any car show or sunny day.
