1977 Ford Thunderbird Additional Info:
Hello, this listing is for my 1977 Ford Thunderbird with 7,674 original miles. I picked this car up from an estate earlier this year from the original owners. The miles are correct. The car was literally never driven. It was ordered in Rose Glow pink, and had a set of wire wheels and aftermarket stereo installed as soon as the car was delivered, along with a spotlight, aftermarket alarm, and some custom pinstriping, with The Pink Panther holding a martini on the trunk lid! The car had sat for 14 years in a garage unused before I picked it up,and had previously spent some time outside before that while they waited to build a new garage. Bear with me,I want all bases covered!
Body: The car still has 95% of it`s original paint, the right front fender shows evidence of having paint work done at some point,it looks like a very old repair. The paint doesn`t quite match the rest of the car in that area. The paint itself is dull and wore thin on the roof and trunk lid from repeated buffing and waxing. There are no dents and no door dings on the body or the trim. There is one tiny tiny little ding on the top of the left front fender. There are a couple tiny little spots of surface rust on the body along the side mouldings that can be seen in the pictures. Absolutely no rust holes or soft spots anywhere on the car. Honestly, the paint is the only real issue with the car. It is dull, getting thin, and actually has impressions from a car cover across the trunk lid. The paint will shine up well, but I was afraid of damaging the pinstriping so I left it alone. The chrome on the bumpers, etc does have minor pitting.
Interior: The interior is gorgeous,as expected for a car with under 8000 miles on it. Power seats, tilt, cruise, power windows, etc. The seats, dashboard, headliner, etc are all perfect. There is a crack on the driver`s side door panel armrest, and the speaker covers on the doors have come loose. Everything works.
Brakes: It stops well now that I replaced the master cylinder and bled the brakes,it still needs the right rear wheel cylinder replaced, which should be done by the end of the listing.
Engine/Transmission: It is equipped with the 302 V8 and automatic transmission. It starts right up,and runs well. The transmission operates as it should. The a/c works but needs to be recharged. Power steering works as it should, charging system is operating, etc. The exhaust "might" need some attention as it seems to be starting to just show it`s age. The car has all of it`s factory original plug wires, cap, rotor, radiator hoses, etc. There are factory markings everywhere under the hood.
Misc: The original factory tires were still on the car,but they were showing their age and were actually recalled in 1978 for coming apart. The wire wheels were very rusty. I replaced the wheels and tires with brand new ones that fit the look of the car. I still have the original tires, and they are included, one even blew apart in the sun....just like the recall said. They have near full tread,as expected for 7,600 mile tires. The tires have a DOT date of late October 1976,the car was built in early Nov 1976. The inside of the trunk literally looks like new. The underside of the car is super clean. All of the glass is fine. All of the lights and lenses look like new.
I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter,wheels/tires,and brake master cylinder. I do not have the original battery unfortunately. The build sheet is still under the drivers seat.
I have only driven the car around my neighborhood a couple times,I have not driven it any long distances as I am sure it will still need to prove itself reliable first.
I am sure I am forgetting a few things. I have several more pictures, but was only able to upload 24. The car has a clear IL title. Please feel free to ask ANY questions. If you are able to see the car in-person,I urge you to do so. I want no misunderstandings about the car. It is located in Lombard,IL 60148 right off of I-355 and I-88.
I would like it paid for within 1-week of listing end and picked up within 2-weeks. I would like a $75.00 deposit through PayPal within 24-hours to show that you are a serious buyer, unless other arrangements are made. Any form of payment must clear my bank before the car will be released! And again, please ask ANY questions first!!
