When one considers the world of Mustang collecting and investing there are few models as interesting as the J Code! Being offered only in 1968 (one model year) these pony cars have become highly sought after. However when you factor in the equation of the same model being presented in convertible form “there’s no doubt you’ve got something special”!

Please allow me to give a hand full of details and a few pictures displaying why this one receives so much fanfare every time she’s pulled out of the garage.

If you’ve been waiting for just the right opportunity to join in on all the fun DON’T MISS OUT!!!! The smart buyer is encouraged to call (314) 649-8227 she’s is up for sale and immediate purchase!!!

AN OPPORTUNITY LIKE THIS ONLY COMES AROUND EVERY SO OFTEN! DON’T ALLOW SOMEONE ELSE TO STEAL HER AWAY!

Let’s get right into it, there’s a great deal that can be said about this particular pony car. It was actually delivered to Weber Ford in Indianapolis in the fall of 1968. A well known Indy native associated with the dealership ordered the car.

His admiration for this beauty was evident by all and there are still various photos of him proudly posing in front it.

At any rate after any many years of enjoyment retirement eventually was manifest for him & his beloved Mustang also. Since he desired to scale things back a bit the iconic pony car was slated for sale.

It seems that the transition took place sometime around the mid eighties. Once the baton was passed this Mustang was treated to a heated garage which was shared with various other collector cars.

By all accounts the new owner had been heavily involved with collecting, selling & restoring classic vehicles. It seems that this J Code was actually put on the shelf for over two decades before he decided to mount a full blown restoration.

The painstaking process itself would last approximately two years before having the finish label applied.

A strong effort was made to make the vehicle respectable so it doesn’t take a millisecond to appreciate the cars appearance!

All of the body panels are very uniform and seem to be properly aligned. I personally think the a few minor adjustments could have been made (however I’m being picky).

For the most part everything’s in line with factory tooling specifications.

There is no hint or evidence of any previous damage (accident free).

Everyone that comes in contact with this car absolutely LOVES IT!!! From the admiration of its brilliant blue exterior to the Oxford white canvas top “compliments are all but guaranteed”!

You won’t be able to take it out of the garage without making new friends!

A base / clear enamel covering supersedes the original out dated lacquer paint.

The new material has been laid with care and many coats emboss each section.

The exterior almost seems to have a duel nature “coming across indigo blue during the day *(looks wet in direct sunlight) & cerulean blue at dusk!

A subtle dose of metallic has been incorporated that really helps bring the tint to life!

Before the vehicle was sanctioned to be released a litany of N.O.S. emblems were installed. Factory Ford bumpers were hung in place of the original ones.

The factory stainless rocker panel moldings were swapped with a new pair that continues help to shield the body from road debris.

A new fuel door & engine identification badges grace both fenders. All of the grille moldings have been refurbished.

The door glass and front windshield are all clear and damage free.

All fog lights & signal markers jump into action on command. Both rear color keyed bumperettes are original to the car.

A nostalgic integrated turn signal hood leads the way up front & continues to remind others what brand started it all! Again this stallion needs to be seen in person to truly be appreciated! She’s ready for any venue

SHOW OR GO!

Since we have covered the bases regarding the exterior let’s see what she has to offer inside!

Ford was as proud of their product inside as they were out in 1968. This little Mustang still gives some proof of that statement. Although not over done the pedestrian flavored interior (displayed here) still gets respect from the masses.

The seat upholstery has a subtle yet elegant feel once positioned inside.

TMI covers were installed a short time ago that simply look fantastic. New padding was set in place before the seats were reconstructed. Many enthusiast neglect this critical component when replacing seat covers…. (No issues here a definite level of comfort can be expected)!

A new pair of nostalgic door panels further help to accentuate the interior.

The two tone theme is played without interruption front to rear. The entire cockpit has been refurbished in one fashion or another.

To finish things off new loop pile carpet was added along with a top notch steering wheel, etc.

The dash pad is original to the car and the quarter trim has been reinforced with modern attaching hardware.

It must be mentioned that this pony car looks just as good with the top up! A new oxford white power canvas top has been installed that provides excellent contrast! With the GT stripes it looks to be the perfect pair! No shorts were taken this beauty also has new straps, bow and lace. The pump / top motor was replaced along with the hydraulic lines (over $1200….receipts included).

She’s ready for years of trouble free fun!

Here’s a final glimpse:

Once you say the word classic Mustang everyone wants to know “what’s underneath the hood”!

You will have no problem holding your head high at the car show when it comes to light that you have a one off model!

The J Code block is respected by almost every enthusiast involved with the hobby of collecting Fords.

The one resting comfortably in between the wheel wells of this particular pony has been completely rebuilt!

A very reputable company located in the Mid West went through the block piece by piece.

The 302 / 4V power plant that you see pictured here is very responsive and eager to run full throttle!

To ensure a decent torque punch & commendable horse power the block was treated to stainless steel tensioning rods, cast iron crank, honed main bearings & too much more to list!

Preventative maintenance has been addressed by the aid of new performance plugs, wires, water pump, fuel filter, fuel pump, battery, thermostat, radiator, coil, alternator, starter, voltage regulator, etc.

An iconic chrome air cleaner with a matching set of valve covers signify Fords factory upgrade.

Original exhaust manifolds are buried below.

As if it couldn’t get any better this Mustang left the assembly plant with factory A/C! In the fierce summer heat you will be the envy of all!

At the end of the day I can promise you that this vehicle is well rounded.

“A New High Performance dual exhaust ensures every ride is a thrill!!!!

If you desire to stand out in the crowd this Mustang is for you! To top things off a spank brand new set of Magnum 500’s have been added. New raised white letter performance tires hug the rims appropriately!

Handling is also optimal as many suspension parts have been changed also. She’s received a clean bill of health (road worthy)!

Again this vehicle is ready to be enjoyed fully! The time, resources and care that have been given through the years can’t properly be measured “rare opportunity”!

Here’s yet more good news “she’s solid underneath”! Nice color coded floors & frame rails. Don’t ruin your experience by investing in a rusty vehicle!
