With fewer than 900 miles since its recent restoration, this 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible offers an abundance of vintage style that combines with just the right amount of customization to result in a great looking, open air cruiser. Armed with period-correct power under the hood, it also has that reassuring level of road readiness to take it well beyond the realm of garage-bound conversation piece - you'll want to get behind the wheel, fire it up and take to... the asphalt any opportunity you get. The graphite metallic paint draped over its exterior is a welcome change from the norm, offering a modern touch while still allowing this Ford classic to project all of its vintage charm. The paint presents really well - the metallic flake looks great up close without being overdone -and is ornamented by well-executed stripes with nice sharp edges along its sides. The distinctive stacked headlights up front sit on either side of a clean, painted grille that sits level over a very fresh-looking chrome bumper and from this vantage point you can see how well the hood lines up with the fenders to its sides. In fact, a lap around the car will illustrate that it's in good alignment on all sides while its "badge-free" look really allows the paint to take center stage. You'll likely want to spend as much time as possible behind the wheel of this great looking Ford with just the blue sky above you, but should the weather not cooperate, the black convertible top resting under its neatly fitted tonneau cover has recently been replaced and stands ready to protect you from the elements. The black interior retains a look that's reminiscent of the one this Galaxie left the factory with, but the leather buckets up front and bench seat in back offer a level of luxury well beyond. This is a great looking, classic driving environment that was obviously the result of a lot of planning and workmanship - even the door panels have been refurbished very nicely. The dash area just in front of the Grant steering wheel blends factory components with some customization and aftermarket add-ons, including a trio of gauges just underneath the original speedometer, which itself sits above a great looking chrome insert with a crystal clear lens. The textured leather dash pad sitting across the top is another great detail. A custom pedestal puts the AM/FM/CD player within easy reach, but it will need a little attention to get it back on track. The trunk area in back is in good order and as spacious as you could want - it features a recessed compartment for a spare tire to leave maximum room at your disposal. The 390 cubic inch V8 entrusted with propelling this classic is known for its anvil-like durability, teaming with a 3-speed automatic transmission that's shifting smoothly to make up a low-effort, high functioning drivetrain. The engine carries a 4-barrel carb that sits underneath a sharp looking oval air cleaner, as well as a pair of "Cobra" branded valve covers and is in very good form, pulling with plenty of strength as it sounds a nice exhaust note out of its Flowmaster dual exhaust. A pair of electric fans assist the radiator with keeping temperatures in check. Power brakes - with discs up front - and power steering make this generously proportioned convertible an easy navigator that stops promptly when called upon. The view from below reveals a very solid undercarriage. This well-restored Ford classic cruises on a set of 15" American Racing Torq Thrust wheels, wrapped with Kumho tires. Running with a confidence-inspiring vitality to go along with its outstanding curb appeal, this 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible would be a great score for any classic enthusiast. Call today!
