We sell all cars as-is, which means the buyer isresponsible for any and all repairs, according to the Ohio Buyer’s Guide (includes body, mechanical, frame and interior). We do our best to describe all vehicles as accurately as possible, but keep in mind that opinions may differ and that it’sthe buyer’s responsibility to inspect the car before bidding. We advise all bidders to get a third party to check out the vehicle if they can’t make it out themselves to ensure their complete satisfaction. This must be done before bidding. When you view the pictures of the vehicle, make sure you look at them on a large screen to ensure that you can see all attributes of the car. If the car starts and runs onto the truck, but it does not start at arrival, that is the buyer’s responsibility (cars may be damaged on a long, bouncy trip). Once the car is paid for, all buyers should put insurance on it because they now own the car. We will work with your shipper or you can call Mike, our shipper, for a rate at 970-300-1020. We leave all buyers positive feedback. All sales are final.
Thank you for looking at our one owner Ford Thunderbird Convertible Classic Automobile. This car was parked in a dry garage in 1972, never to be driven again. The car was started in the late 80s. The gentleman who bought this car new was going to clean it up and start driving it when he was older, but then he passed away. His wife stayed at the same residence that the car was parked in the garage for 30 more years. Now that she is sick, the family sold the car to me. I had the car towed to my mechanic, he put on 4 brand new tires and a new battery and when you turn the key, there's no lights. Nothing happens at all. So he told me he wanted to bring the car in the garage and start going through the car, engine, gas tank, fuel lines and do everything that's required to make the car run and make it an everyday driver. And after I saw the estimate of repair I thought I'd let someone else do the work themselves because they would save a lot of money because it possibly could cost $1000 to $2000 to get the car running and driving but if you do it for yourself it can be done for a lot less.
Everything you see on the car is original. The top is original, the interior is original, the body on the car is original, but when we cleaned it up, we touched up a few spots to make it nicer, but we didn't do any repair work on the body. What you see is exactly how it would look sitting in a garage since 1972. The hood is solid, the front and rear bumpers are in good condition, both front fenders are solid, with a little bit of rust on the bottom of one. Both doors are solid, as well as the rocker panels. It will need some repair in the rear quarter panels, but I'm sure you'd want to paint the whole car anyways. Underneath the vehicle needs to be power washed, inspected and resealed, but its all still very solid for its age.
The inside of the vehicle will definitely need carpeting and some critters got into the car and ate the steering wheel pad and made a small hole in the rear seat, which can be seen in the pictures. I found the steering pad on eBay for $50 and the rear seats are repairable. It has the nicer hubcaps that have the built in spinners. The car rolls easily because it was never exposed to water. The motor compartment is very clean for its age. This could be a really nice small project for somebody who wants an old Thunderbird convertible. Remember: when you work on this car, you'll be the first one to do any work on the body of the car because its never been redone in any way, shape or form.
If you buy a Thunderbird convertible that looks perfect, you don't know what you're getting, because you can't see what it looked like before and a lot of the old cars that were running around were in horrible shape to start with, not like this one is. I'm letting this ad run for seven days to let all possible buyers come look at it. My address is at the top of the ad.These cars are very valuable when they're all done correctly. With 49K actual miles, and being that its a one family owned vehicle since brand new, I think when it's done, one winner will have a really special car that will last them a lifetime.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL BIDDERS!
