1964 Ford Galaxie xl Additional Info:
Hello! I am putting up for auction my dream car, my 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 XL 390 c6 automatic Convertible only 15,160 made! I have owned this car for about 4 years and have kept it in my garage every day. I now have 3 babies, and I no longer have the time to take my 4th out for a drive or to a local car show anymore. I am selling her now to start saving for college funds and will probably regret this decision. Disclaimer: I am not a very good car guy. I can take pictures and answer most questions. I can tell you what I have documents for and what I have restored. I will do my best to give you absolute honest answers to your questions. About the car: She is a 1964 Galaxie 500 XL Code 69, Body style 2 Dr Convertible Code 76b. She has rangoon red paint with a black convertible top and buckets seats. Her vin Number is 4j9z158358 which makes her a 'Z Code' car indicating her 390 CID, 300 HP, 10:0:1 Compression. She has a c6 3 speed automatic transmission. The car was professionally restored in 1997 and appraised then at $28k. I have included pictures of the old appraisal. The car had 17,381 miles on it at the time of appraisal. The title is in hand and clean. The previous owner kept the car garaged and rarely drove it. When I purchased the car the engine block had some corrosion and the engine was not kept up. I had a professional mechanic in Warren, Oregon replace the block and all of the internal pieces (not very knowledgeable about this, but it did cost me over 5k). The car now drives like a dream. The engine work was done at 25,000 miles and I have personally only put about 250 miles on the new engine - babies take all of your time! I have taken her out to a few car shows and have won 2 trophies! Details: Pros: Absolutely stunning chrome/stainless all around the car! Bumpers shine! Very little if any dents. All chrome pieces are there including the lower side skirt pieces! Paint is in fantastic shining shape! Every stop light is a thumbs up or a “Nice Ride!” Power steering, turns easy and fantastic! Side Mirrors are brand new Drum brakes in great shape! Tires were new when i bought the car and have 300 miles on them. Very little, if any rust. I have taken a magnet to the whole car and there are no drops. There are some visible rust spots in the arm to the convertible that I tried my best to take photos of. Interior is almost flawless. There are two small rips. One on the drivers seat by the shoulder and one in the middle of the drivers seat. I tried to take clear pictures of these. They will shine up really nice (almost brand new) with a little water. They are a little dusty in the pictures. Perfect Carpet and mats Factory Stereo works! All electrical works! Windshield wipers work! Top works almost perfect. On the way up it sticks a little in the passage side and needs a little lift. Other than that it opens and closes perfectly. It is a little tricky to latch - it is 60 years old. Heater works and gets really warm! All locks work, all windows roll up! Cons: The Clock does not work. The shifter linkage is a little off on the transmission. The car will not start in park. If you pull the shifter to the left while turning the key it will start in park. The car fires right up in Neutral! There is a tiny tiny leak behind the carburetor where the heater core connects. Radiator fluid will drip down and collect on the engine top. Like a teaspoon worth of drip after two months of the car sitting. I just wipe it off before I drive her. There are 4 body dings that I tried to capture in the photos. The first is a little spider crack in the paint on the hood. It is very small. There are two spots on the rear of the car that the previous owner tried to touch up. He didn’t do a very good job, but it works. The last is a small hair line scratch on the passenger side under the convertible. Hard to notice if you are not looking. The rest of the paint is phenomenal! Extras: I am including the original generator that came with the car. It works just fine, I decided to upgrade it to a new alternator though. I will include the model car :) I am also including the owners manual and the repair manual! I am also including a custom car cover for the car. Fits like a glove! The antenna spot is even in the right place!
