Cruise the Mississippi coast in style with this beautifully restored 66 Mustang convertible.
As with many cars of this vintage, this car has a story. My father-in-law purchased two 1966 Mustangs, a coupe, and a convertible that he planned to restore in 1980. The car has had less than 2,000 miles driven since 1980.He did a restoration, slowly, taking 36 years using some of my help and some grandchildren. He used the best parts from both cars. While the title says coupe, it has been restored as the convertible. He really liked the red color and interior of the 65 Mustang so that is what he used on the car. He added an aftermarket air conditioner, living in Mississippi. But other than the AC, he did his best to use original parts, or more accurately, new vintage parts. The only known issue is the AM radio does not work as it was never hooked up and is now hard to get to with the AC unit. I am helping my father-in law sell the car and know most of the history, but I may have to connect you to him depending upon the question.
It has a 289 2bbl carburetor with 3 speed automatic. It has manual steering and brakes. It runs well and idles smooth. I have a video of the idling, link below. We did add Dynamat under the carpet to make the ride a bit quieter.
Here is a link to a video of the engine idling. https://www.dropbox.com/s/cnwygicmttjm0si/IMG_1027.MOV?dl=0
