1972 Ford Mach 1 Mustang with 14,800 original miles! Original factory red enamel paint from 1972! Vehicle has never been driven in snow or in winter. In the last 18 years I have owned this car it has also never been driven in rain. Car has all the original body panels and has never had any rust! Car has front and rear spoilers, twist hood locks, functional ram air, Magnum 500 wheels, deluxe interior with fold down rear seat, custom autosound stereo, high performance 351 Cleveland engine, an AOD automatic overdrive transmission, a traction lock 9 inch rear end and several performance suspension components.
I bought this car in 2000 with 6900 original miles.Car originally came with an H code 351 Cleveland 2 barrel engine rated at 177 horsepower, an FMX 3 speed automatic transmission and a standard 9 inch, 2.75 open rear end.In 2003 I replaced the original H code engine with a high performance professionally built 351 H code engine. The engine produces over 375 horsepower. Here are the engine details: Ported heads, stainless 1 piece valves, roller rockers, Weiand Xcelerator aluminum intake manifold, Lunati bracket master II camshaft, forged TRW 9.5 compression ratio pistons, heavy duty piston rings & bearings, ARP rod, crank & head fasteners, shot peened connecting rods, balanced rotating assembly, MPG windage tray, fluid damper, MSD ignition, Holley 750 carburetor with aftermarket ram air induction, Hooker jet hot coated super competition headers with 2.5 inch mandrel bent exhaust with X pipe, Dynomax performance mufflers, aluminum water pump, 100 AMP alternator and external engine oil cooler.
The original FMX 3 speed transmission was replaced with a professionally built AOD 4 speed overdrive transmission. Here are the transmission details: Heavy duty 4R70 internals which provide a lower 1stand 2ndgear ratio, larger band and bigger clutch drums, Lentech street bruiser valve body, Edge 9.5 inch 2800 stall converter with external transmission oil cooler and new custom drive shaft.
Rear end was changed to a nodular traction lock unit with 3.89 Richmond gears. I also added Tin Man weld in full frame connectors, 1 & 1/8 inch front sway bar, 7/8 inch rear sway bar and 1 inch front lowering springs. Front tires are 235/60/15 on 6 inch magnum 500 rims and rear tires are 295/50/15 on 10 inch magnum 500 rims.
Car runs and drives absolutely awesome and engine sounds fantastic! Transmission performs flawlessly! My goal was to have a stock factory looking Mach 1 with improved handling and much better then factory performance. Car runs a 13 second quarter mile at local drag strip and gets 15.5 MPG driving at 70 MPH on 91 octane pump gas. Car has won numerous trophies and plaques at car events. Custom autosound stereo has RCA input for smart phone or MP3 player and also includes a powered subwoofer which can be removed easily if desired. The original 2.75 standard rear end also goes with the car along with a very high quality car cover. I have enjoyed this car for 18 years but now it is time for a new project. This is a once in a lifetime chance to own a unique and extremely low mileage Mach 1! 630-542-8961.
