1939 Ford Other Deluxe Additional Info:
1939 Ford Deluxe V8 Model 91A Deluxe 2-door sedan. Purchased from the Leith Collection in North Carolina, the beautiful automobile was sold new in Texas and used in the mountains of North Carolina to run "white lightning". As was typical of a moonshine car, this car was modified to out run the law - vintage Edelbrock heads and other performance parts and extra rear spring, etc. Legend has it that this car wad never "caught" - and the owner attributed his success (and luck) to the silver horse shoe he attached to the grill almost 60 years ago and which remains with the car today! The body and interior were restored approximately 15 years ago. Both show little wear. The body fitment and black paint are very good. No bondo, accident repair or rust is evident. The flathead V8 was recently tuned, and runs strong and smooth as it should. A brand new original style aluminum radiator was installed to improve drivability. The original radiator is included with the car. As mentioned, it retains the period Edelbrock aluminum heads and other high performance parts which were affixed to this beauty during its "rum-running" days. The gauges currently are inoperable, likely just a weekend project to repair. The 1937-1939 Fords are iconic and acknowledged to be one of the most beautifully styled automobile of their time. The 1939's were the best of the group due to the introduction of hydraulic brakes. The art deco style of the exterior continues to the interior, from its banjo-style steering wheel to its wood grained door frames garnished with ivory plastic insert. With its colorful history, this cool automobile is a piece of American, and will give the new owner many miles of enjoyment for years to come.
