1962 Ford Thunderbird Additional Info:
This vehicle is in excellent condition! I also have it for sale locally in Houston Texas. Until the last 2 months the vehicle has been parked and secured in an RV storage unit with a car cover. You will simply be amazed by the paint condition and the body lines on this car!
This is a 1962 Ford ThunderbirdExcellent paint condition, original color which is called Rangoon Red. I have a photo of the vehicle tag pictured.
It is not completely original as I have updated so many parts for it to run smooth with today's vehicles.
It does have a factory AC unit but needs work. The compressor however is NOT locked up. I had the AC rebuilt but probably my fault for letting it sit so long, so it lost the freon.
It is a 390 cubic inch engine and has a Ford Turbo-Matic transmission that has been rebuilt.I have converted it from a Generator to an Alternator,
I would also like to add that all of the interior lights work as they should including the light that flashes when the emergency brake is applied.. that is fascinating! I wanted to leave some originality to the car so I left the cracked dashboard untouched but I did replace the grill when we put a new speaker in it! It also has ALL original glass, and roll up windows. I have the original seatbelts as well.
It has a swing away steering column from which my understanding from my local Ford dealership was for the ladies back in the 60s when they used to wear Petticoat dresses! Works perfectly.
Other goodies include:
Power front disc-brakesPowder coated intakeHolley 650 carburetorNew BatteryNew Gear BoxNew reproduction T-Bird radio w/cassette playerNew floor matsNew Goodyear TiresBlue tint LED headlightsNew exhaust systemExtra A/C Air Ducts added
The engine parts you see are original, I had them chrome plated to dress it up.
The mileage I'm not certain of, my mechanic says it all looked good when he had it slightly disassembled. It doesn't smoke on Startup or while running. It runs exceptionally nice! And the best part no leaks whatsoever!
I purchased this vehicle over 8 years ago to give to my parent's... the year I purchased it my dad had a stroke and never got to see it. It has been in storage ever since until Mom recently decided to just sell it rather than have it sit any longer.
I have had this vehicle checked over and over and no one can find any signs that the vehicle has ever had rust! It is not perfect but it is damned near close!
A new owner would only have to worry about fine-tuning this engine fixing the AC and maybe a new set of wheels if you don't like the Cragar SS 5 spokes that it has on it... the fender skirts are in the trunk.... I only put them on for the pics but I personally like the way it looks without them!
I have the vehicle insured with Hagerty Insurance in excellent condition. 19k to 20k is the value that Hagerty put on the vehicle.
I hope that there is a true T-bird enthusiast out there! You will really really appreciate this car!!
Arrange a way to get here to Houston Texas and test drive it!
If I had the space I wouldn't even let it go! Thank you for reading my book!
UNLESS you are in the Houston area you must make arrangements with your own transport company!!
