1973 Ford Torino restomod Additional Info:
Tonight I received an email from a concerned eBay Shopper and Dealer and accused me of misrepresenting my car by calling it a Muscle Car. He says that the Torino was not a muscle car. I have copied the definition of a Muscle Car and I ask that you read it and determine if this car has been misrepresented. If you feel that it has then just disregard that statement; regardless, this is an awsome car with an engine that makes it go fast.
Muscle caris an American term used to refer to a variety of high-performanceautomobiles.[1]TheMerriam-Websterdictionary defines muscle cars as "any of a group of American-made 2-door sports cars with powerful engines designed for high-performance driving."[2]A largeV8 engineis fitted in a 2-door,rear wheel drive, family-stylecompact,mid-sizeorfull-size cardesigned for four or more passengers. Sold at an affordable price, muscle cars are intended for street use and occasionaldrag racing.[3][4][5][6]They are distinct from two-seatsports carsand expensive2+2GTsintended for high-speed touring androad racing.
This is a true muscle car and has been fully restored and many performance upgrades have been added. This is a numbers matching vehicle. The original 351c engine was stroked to 408 and was dyno tested yielding 464 HP and 515 ftpd torque.Different heads and larger carburator could easily push the HP to over 500. I chose this set up for better street-ability as a daily driver. Parts used for this rebuild include but not limited to Scat forged crank and rods, Comp Cams hydraulic roller mild cam and lifters, modified (for better flow) cast iron 2V heads with larger valves, Edelbrock RPM air gap intake manifold, QuickFuel 680 CFM carb, RobbMc Performance mechanical fuel pump, Hooker ceramic long tube headers attached to a custom Flowmaster cross over exhaust, Champion 3 pass aluminum radiator, 16 inch electric fan, blue printed oil pump, Harland Sharp roller rockers, dual cool air intake and filter system, distributor was upgraded to HEI pointless distributor, new harmonic balancer, fully assembled with ARP bolts Spark plugs have been indexed for better burn.
The 3 spd FMX transmission was fully rebuilt with a performance shift kit. The FMX transmission consumes about 50 less HP than the C-4 or C-6, sending more HP to the rear wheels. The transmission is backed up by a Gear Vendor 2 speed overdrive. 2800 stall speed torque converter (matched to engine), new heavy duty flex plate, heavy duty drive shaft and u joints, Ford 9 inch 350 Eaton positrac rear end.
Suspension was fully rebuilt with modern ball joints and polyurethane bushings. The front 5/8 inch anti sway bar was upgraded to 1 1/8 inch and a 5/8 inch bar was added to rear. The power steering gear box was upgraded to a quick ratio box for better handling. Gas shocks were installed for a smoother ride.
Interior was fully replaced. Sound deading material was applied to all interior surfaces and thermal shielding was applied to the floor before the new carpet was installed. A full array of gauges were added to track the performance of the engine. The radio was upgraded to a Classic Audio blue tooth stereo and supported with Rockford Fusgate amplifier and speakers. All dash lights were up graded to LED bulbs.
Exterior was completely sanded and repainted in Ford Grabber Blue paint with clear coat. The graphics were painted in flat black. The bumpers were re-chromed and the other chrome trim was refurbished. The undercarriage was completely stripped and coated with paint and undercoating. The headlights were upgraded to halogen, halo ring bulbs and all other exterior lights were upgraded to LED bulbs.
Fuel system, gas tank was refurbished and sealed and lines were flushed and sealed.
Power brake system was replaced including all lines and hardware at each wheel. New master cylinder.
I have hundreds of extra parts, including a complete drive train. Worth over $2500 or more that I will include at no additional cost.
Please note that the original AC is available and is shown in the pictures; however, it is not functional and has been removed from the engine. It needs to be upgraded to current Freon. The condenser is installed.
I am the builder of this car and have all the documentation of the build and the shop manual for the car. I have owned a VW rail and buggy shop in Phoenix and know car mechanics, and this is not a one time build. The car made its debut at the Cars and Coffee in Dallas last year and received a lot of attention and was featured on several websites. It won 5th place at a recent car show in Fort Worth out of 250 car and trucks. The trophy will go with the car. I would have taken it to other shows; however, my health has prevented me from doing so. I would like to see someone buy this car and improve on it and win other awards. This is an excellent start and the big money has been spent. You could not build this car for what I am asking. Adding a blower or turbo could bring this engine to over 600 HP or add EFI and improve on fuel efficiency and improve performance for a daily driver!!!! This car turns heads and I get lots of compliments when ever I drive it. I will not be lowering the price of this car, if you are interested in owning it, make an offer.
