CHECKOUT THE MARTI REPORT
I'm reluctantly selling this rare R Code Mach 1 due to a different investment opportunity. There's NO ENGINE with this car. I've owned it a few years and always stored her high & dry inside my garage. It has the ORIGINAL PAINT & SHEET METAL... uncut by hackers. But the car will obviously need & certainly deserves a quality restoration.
Ok, here we go...
The story on the car is this... I purchased the car from a town near Toledo where she was sold new. I rolled it out of the barn it hibernated in since the mid 70's just a few years ago. The older fella (60's) I bought the car from was the 2nd owner, he purchased it in late '72 with a blown engine from a friend. He states that the car has original 4590 miles & was around 1100 when he bought it. He was friends with the original owner who only weekend drag raced the car locally. In early 1973 he installed a 351C and drove a few years, the engine was making noise so he removed the engine & parked it in his parents barn in '76 (last plated date). He pulled the carpet & interior out in the early 80's somehow the window was busted & water got inside.
** The car had the ORIGINAL FRONT WHEELS & TIRES on it when I bought the car. The rear had 50's with slotted mags (still have the fronts & rears also)
*** I believe the mileage to be 100% accurate...Based on the tires & wheels, Dash condition, pedal wear & the passenger door hinges (door opens & shuts like new) & the old mans word (he had no reason to lie to me).
This car is RARE and virtually unmolested... I use that term loosely.
Body Condition
**Will need Floor pan work on both sides... can be easily patched but I would do a one piece unit because it's the right thing to do & the car deserves it.
**The Deck lid is rusted & the base of the tail panel inside the trunk.
** The hood is trashed.. it was laid down and got wet at some point, still has the locks & trim ring though.
** Door glass is broken out on both sides
** Drivers door is rusted at the bottom seem, passenger door is good
** Transmission will need rebuilt but it's there
**missing original rear 3.50 gear, has 4.30 Locker now (from being drag raced)
- The Interior is so nice, the dash is perfect, gauges & wood grain are beautiful, seats are pretty dirty & old... missing RH bucket seat.-Inner quarter trim is nice-Nice sail panels & package tray-Headliner has small holes-Engine bay is great.. Shock towers have had the steel support cut back for clearance (probably for header use)-Windshield & rear glass are great-Firewall is great-Fenders are great-Frame front & rear is super solid-Quarter panels will need minor patching at the lower side... wheel lips & tubs are great (see pictures)- I have the LH seat & the rear seat- I have the Hurst shifter & linkage- I have a Shaker scoop but no base assembly
