This is a Tribute car done right. The workmanship throughout the rest of the build is impressive. With the price tag of real Shelby's on the rise year after year, here's your chance to own a well done tribute. After all, the guy at the stoplight next to you won't have any idea it's a tribute anyways.
Presented in Wimbledon White with the "LeMans" stripes, and the G.T. 350 rocker stripes painted on in Guardsman Blue. No surprise there. Those are the correct colors done right. There is a small Mustang over red, white, and blue stripes on the grill, and one on the gas cap, but all other Mustang emblems are absent. A small G.T. 350 emblem graces the rear panel just next to the taillight. The chrome bumpers shine bright and look new as well as all the brightwork of the trim on the windows, brake lights, and marker lights as well as the door handles. The chrome outside mirrors look particularly sharp. Hood pins and the hood scoop are a required for the look, and the racing magnets (yes they are removable) are a nice authentic touch. Finishing off the look is a set of correct Shelby Cragar wheels.
The interior stays authentic to the original cars for the most part. There are a couple concessions made for practicality and fun, like the A/C system, a stereo, and an extra gear in the transmission. But check out that Shelby pod in the center of the dash with the tach and oil pressure gauges. That's what they wanted to keep track of during a race! There is a deep dish three spoke wooden steering wheel with the Cobra snake in the center just like back in the day. Seats are in excellent shape with a fire extinguisher between them, with wide racing seat belts, and the carpets are in excellent shape with a set of slick G.T. 350 floor mats. True to the original also, the rear seats have been replaced with a fiberglass tray that holds the spare tire, which by the way, is the 5th of the original Shelby wheel set.
The engine and drivetrain work on this car does justice to the abilities of the original race cars. A very clean and tidy engine bay cradles a Mark Stacy 331-cubic inch stroker motor. It breathes in through a chrome filter housing, through a Holley double pumper carb, to an Edelbrock Performer intake, and aluminum heads. An MSD 6AL ignition system provides reliable spark to make big power. It breathes out through ceramic coated, long tube headers, and cherry bomb style mufflers, exiting out the sides of the car just like they're supposed to. "Cobra Ford" finned valve covers look just right. A 5-speed transmission gets the power headed back to rear end. The suspension also received generous amounts of attention. There are Koni Red shocks on all four corners, and a massive sway bar keeps the front end from rolling around too much. 205/65R15 tires are where all this awesome meets the pavement.
Have a seat. Imagine yourself on track in 1965. Then turn on the A/C and the stereo, and roll down to the show. It doesn't get any better than this.
