NO RESERVE AUCTION
1959 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner Retractable Hardtop
About as close to a barn-find as you can get. Car sat untouched for 20 years under cover until last November.
Car is coded as a 352 V8, 2 speed auto, black over red over black with a black, red and silver interior.
Clear Oregon title in my name.
352 C.I. 300hp V8 which turns freely and fires, compression on all cylinders. The engine should be gone through, it was frozen when I purchased it. After freeing it and adding all new ignition components, it fires and I have run it briefly. Fuel pump works, gas lines are clear from tank to engine. Carb on the engine is a 1959 Holley from a Mercury which is non-functional. Included is a new Holley 770 cfm 4 barrel. Power steering pump is present but not installed. Engine has single Y exhaust header with no pipe or muffler. Radiator appears to be in good condition but has not been pressure checked.
Transmission: condition unknown, you can manually move the selector on the tranny and the car rolls freely in neutral.
Top is in good shape, it is not fully wired in but can be run by manually putting power to each solenoid individually. The jackscrews function correctly but are in need of some adjustment. I haven’t been able to check the switches yet. All top motors and drive cables are in good condition. Helper springs on the deck lid (trunk) appear to be weak, it opens fully but requires a little help past about 75%
Body is in good condition with very little rust. There is a hole in the trunk and one in the passenger side foot well, both are pictured. For a 59 year old convertible the floor is exceptionally solid. The rockers, front and rear quarter panels are solid. Gas tank is solid. Passenger door does not latch consistently, both doors require adjustment.
All Glass is all intact and in good shape, window regulators work. Rear cranks are missing.
VIN matches all options currently on the car except for paint. Correct paint code is “AR2” (black/red/black). Original paint is present under the current white paint color.
All upholstery is present for use as patterns; both seats, armrests, door panels, roof panels. The sale includes a second complete rear seat with the correct red/black/silver with the upholstery in good condition, however it appears to be from a 59 coupe, not a convertible, there is a notch present in the back of the original rear seat which is not on the second seat.
Trim: NO GRILL or lower rocker trim. The rest of the chrome is in fair condition, I have the wheel covers, several taillight assemblies with lenses, the front bumper and extra trim (see photos). Car is badged as a “Fairlane 500” the change to the “Galaxy” designation didn't happen until later in the production year.
Steering column is not installed but included with the original steering wheel, Condition of brakes is unknown, the car rolls freely.
Included with the sale is a second ’59 padded dash with all gauges plus a third speedo cluster and various other bits and pieces.
I have made every effort to be as complete and honest with the description and photos as possible. If you have any questions or would like additional pictures please contact me.

UPDATED INFORMATION 2/27: The front clip as well as the steering box, column and wheel are all temp installed for transport.
RUST: On doing an additional inspection while packaging parts I realized there in rust damage on the passenger side rocker below the door in the area covered by the rocker trim . The door was ajar when I did my original walk around and missed it. The drivers side is solid. I am not able to update the photos in the listing, if you would like a picture of the area or any other information please feel free to contact me.
