1964 Ford Fairlane 500 Additional Info:

Beautiful survivor, 54 years old and still going! I bought this car with a bad engine last year, it was already a 289/ C4, no sign of the 260 and cruiseomatic. block was bad in one cylinder so I replaced it. Currently a 289 .030” over, new rings bearings and gaskets. I left off the extremely heavy iron intake and went with an aluminum Edelbrock with adapter to use original 2bbl. Original intake can go with the car. Starts and runs great, shifts smoothly thru all three gears! The original generator is in place and operational, dash indicator still works. I’m currently resealing the power steering control valve and will put a belt on it soon. I’m also replacing a 10” square section of the floor under driver feet- it was the only rust bad enough to make a whole on the entire car! Also replacing turn signal switch- right side was inop. The above three repairs are in process and will be complete before the new owner takes possession. After replacing the engine I also checked and cleaned the brakes, all four drum with mason jar master cylinder, they work good and pedal is high and firm. I replaced one rear wheel seal and topped off rear end fluid. I replaced all 4 shocks, while it did not make it ride like a pro touring car it did eliminate some rattles. I did buy a washer bag to install in place of the missing original- I’m having a hard time not buying stuff for this car, it’s so easy! Original wiring is in place, lights work and in process or replacing horn ring during the turn signal install. Heater is hooked up and operational. I added an electric radiator fan as the one on it was a after marked flex fan without shroud so the electric was best option. I pulled the carpets up and all floors good with the exception of the previously mentioned repair. Wheels and tires are later mustang with spinner caps, tires are new 215/65/16- plenty of room to upgrade brakes.
This is the SMALL BACK WINDOW 2 door post- the only year model used for theThunderbolt

This car could be a daily driver, just put gas in it and go! Previous owner was the little old lady from Pasadena- no joke, check history, this car was built in Santa Cruz and and registered in Pasadena, CA. FOR sure owned by an artist as everything that was ever off the car was painted and reinstalled, maybe the reason that it is such an awesome survivor!
If I had the chance I would turn it into today’s version of the thunderbolt..... THUNDERBOLT 2.0. 427 stroker 500 hp, race prepped HUGHES C4, fiberglass bumpers, hood, deck lid, doors, mustang II front end, four link independent 9” rear with discs and this thing would be a monster- its just time and Money!
