1959 Ford F-250 Crew cab Additional Info:
1959 Ford F250 4X4 Crew Cab. This is an ex-Air Force truck that is all original with the 223 inline 6 cylinder engine, 3-speed on the column, Dana 21 2-speed transfer case (4hi and 4lo) divorced, Dana 60 rear and Dana 44 Front with Warn lock-out hubs. This is a factory Ford 4X4 chassis with a cab that was made by Orville Cab Company. When it comes to old trucks, this is among the rarest.
The axle ratio is 4.56:1 so it gets around OK, but tops out around 50-55 mph. The truck runs good but could use a tune-up. On the road it does great, but it doesn't idle down slowly very well. I typically just run it on fast idle.
The body is really good as far as rust goes, although it's not perfectly smooth. The only rust is in the front edge of the hood as shown, and the rear bed corners have bondo in them. All it needs is to be sanded / glazed and painted if that's what you want. I was happy with the black primer. I have a better hood for it that needs some dents worked out of it that can be included if you wanted.
The front seat needs to be recovered. The rear seat is in bad shape and needs rebuilt with foam and cover, but is complete with springs. The floor pan has been painted with POR15.
The odometer shows ~29500 miles. I don't know if it's actual or not, but being a military truck and then a farm truck, i don't think it's seen many miles. The drive train and steering aren't all worn out like a high-mileage truck of this era would be.
Before this year it had been off the road since 1988. It has new front brake shoes, hoses, wheel cyl and master cyl, clutch cyl. It has Amsoil fluids throughout except the engine (both axles, transmission, t-case). The engine does leak oil around the galley pan. It carries about 40 psi cold oil pressure, between 20-40 hot.
Everything works - speedometer, fuel gauge, temp gauge, gen light, oil pressure light, headlights, turn signals, brake lights, dome light, wipers. It has a current state inspection and I drive it around. I haven't had it on any long trips, just around my area. I've put about 100 miles on it in the past month. I've had many old Ford crew cabs over the years - this truck is old and fun and gets LOTS of attention. It is ready to be finished just like you want it. I have some emblems for the hood that go with it that aren't shown.
Needless to say there aren't many of these around. I try to find them advertised or just shown on the internet, and have only seen a handful ever. I don't have a good place to store it for the winter and have some other projects I'm ready to move on to, so here's a chance to own what almost no one else has.
Message me with any questions - I'll tell you all about anything with it. I'm sure I've forgotten a lot of detail. This is the same body style as 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960
