A restored 1963 Ford Falcon Futura convertible pro-touring project for sale with accompanying 2003 Cobra Terminator drivetrain.
For sale is a 1963 Falcon Futura convertible with power top. Manual steering and brakes. It was restored by a Ford garage about 10 years ago. It was not a professional rotisserie restoration, but it was done well and is a safe car. There was some inner-rocker rust and they welded new, heavy steel in the rocker area to reinforce it. The floors, trunk floors, front end, and engine compartment are all solid and there's no evidence of any rust ever being there. The doors are solid and don't appear to have had rust repair. Glass/trim is all pretty good. Back window plastic is cloudy.
Apparently it did have lower quarter rust, and probably some around the wheel wells. New quarters were not available, so new lower quarter sections replace the original rusted sections. It was repainted Wimbelton white, the original color. The top, seat covers, and carpet were all replaced. It's not perfect, but it's a good driver and gets a lot of attention.
The drivetrain is the original 170 cubic inch 6 cylinder with 2 speed automatic. The drivetrain was all rebuilt during the restoration. It runs and drives well.
The Falcon was purchased about 4 years ago in St. Louis, and I drove it 200 miles home that day. It was 100 degrees, and the car ran at about the middle of the heat gauge all the way home. So I immediately replaced the radiator with a new aluminum radiator and it runs very cool now. Other than that, I have not touched it, and only put about 5-600 miles on it just cruising around on hot nights with the family.
Following is a picture I developed to show my vision for this car since day one.
I bought this car to build a pro-touring hot rod out of it (represented in the above concept picture). I purchased a 2003 Cobra out of Louisiana with 46K miles on it -- complete except the sheet metal. 4.6 liter, supercharged Terminatorhemi SVT signed engine, T56 six speed with updated 26-spline input shaft for 600 lbs. of torque, intercooler, dash with supercharger gauges, column with key, console, the ECM and allwiring harnesses, special Cobra gas tank with double hatfuel pumps, Cobra pedals, driveshaft, etc. Virtually everything except the sheet metal -- all planned for the Falcon convertible.
I havea video of the Terminator engine running in the donor 2003 Cobra before it was dismantled. I can't get it to work in this narrative, but if you're serious about the drivetrain send me your email and I'll mail it to you.
The above concept picture reflects where I wanted the Falcon to be (stance-wise) when finished. It was planned to have a full Morrison chassis with the Terminator hemi and the T56. To do that, you have to cut the floors, firewall, trunk floors, and the front end out of the car to set it over the new Morrison full frame. That is why I really didn't care about patched rockers -- it was all coming out anyway. I was(and am) still very excited about this build, but there are three projects before it and honestly my body is finally catching up with my age! That's the only reason this car and the Cobra drivetrain is being sold in the form of a hot rod project.
I'm asking $8500 for the Falcon, and $8500 for all the Cobra stuff. Or... $15,000 for the package. The auction "Buy It Now" price reflects the package. If you want to offer a best offer on the package, that is fine too. I will look at any and all offers.
Please note: If you're interested in the Falcon or the Cobra drivetrain, but not both, use the best offer process to make your offer. Make sure you add a comment to let me know specifically what the offer is for. If I accept an offer for the car or the Cobra drivetrain, the auction will be shut down. I will then create a new auction for what I didn't sell.
