1971 Ford F-250 Sport Custom Additional Info:
"Murphy"1971 Ford F-250 Sport Custom-- a running, driving, survivor --
"Murphy" as we call it is a 1971 F-250 Sport Custom, from here in southernIdaho. We acquiredthe truck after it had been sitting for quite some time. After some fresh lube, gaskets, and ignition components, this old 360 roared to life! We've put some miles on the old truck, and feel we can describe it accurately. It was owned by a localVeterinary physician and operated on his small farm. The whole of the truck is essentially original and in-tact, this being the body/paint, drive-train, and interior. It has the original 360 V-8 with 2 barrel carburetor, C-6 Automatic 3-speed transmission, and Dana 60 rear end with 4.10 gears. Factory equipped with power steering and power front disc brakes. Essentially set-up the same way that a Camper Special would be. Also has dealer installed dual auxiliaryfuel tanks.
I love the factory paint, Seafoam Green over Boxwood Green with both trim down the side bump and also lower body. I believe most of the trim is intact, and in pretty good condition. Missing an emblem, and a reflector lens.
This is a turn-key driving truck that will need some TLC here and there. It drives very nice, cruises great. Doesn't smoke. Shifts good. Brakes are touchy, and might need attention before too long. Needs turn-signal switch and wiring. Turn signal works, but left needs to be operated manually. No brake lights.
Cosmetically We photographed the worst of any minor damage. The tailgate needs some welding, or perhaps replaced? The bench seat needs re-foamed and reupholstered, and the dashpad needs replaced. Also the drivers side sun visor bracket needs replaced. Windshield is cracked.
We wanted this classic truck to be affordable to anyone who was interested in a running driving truck! We could have fixed the above items, but we really wanted to keep the price down, and these are all minor issues that we felt any perspective buyer could tackle, without having to spend too much out of pocket.
This is a rust-free dry climate truck. NO ROT! There's no cancer to speak of. Everything is solid. It has spent it's life in dry southern Idaho. The paint only shows some surface patina that really adds to the character of this classic.
If you're looking to restore, this is a fantastic candidate. With straight lines it would be perfect. Also, if you're just looking for something to drive, and tinker with on the weekends, this would be a great choice, at a low price point.
So what are you waiting for? Murphy is ready to roll..
