1928 Ford Roadsterwith rumble seat. I decided to part with my 28 Ford Roadster project after over 5 years and investing over 33K in her, I have simply lost interest and moved on to other things. I will try to be a complete as possible with what has been done and who did it along with what I know is left to finish her up, which is really very little in the overall scheme of things. I’m sure this will be a little long winded but I want to be sure I cover everything I knowand the list of work and parts is extensive.
First this is a true 1928 all metal, zero rust, zero damage barn find body, I have pictures before the work on the underside of the body showing the perfect condition and original paint. The shell was fitted on a new manufactured steel tube frame (Not homemade) and the original serial numbers transferred to maintain a 1928 title.
Let’s start with the drive train, The motor is a Ford V8 flat head and has been completely and professionally rebuilt, I believe it is a 1953. The trans is a Ford C4 auto with a Loker vintage shifterand the rear end is a Ford that has also been completely rebuilt from drum to drum, everything new.
When I received the car over 5 years ago I took it to a will known shop in Southern CA. (Baldy’s Classic’s) their known worldwide for their restorations and show quality work. The body was removed from the frame and the frame was completely worked over, smoothed out and any imperfection removed and then painted bring it up to a show quality standard. The steering and rear end were properly aligned and tracks perfectly along with an all new brake system from front to rear and I do mean everything including the lines and hoses custom fit. There was also a new Painless wiring harness install and fitted from front to rear.
The steering system is a completely chromed out and all new, top to bottom, from the tilt steering column to the I beam and ladder bars along with new tires. The cooling system is also brand new, aluminum radiator, shroud, cap and overflow (never had coolant in it)
The body is freshly painted, The paint is from Kustom Flats out of San Diego CA. and the color is vanilla milkshake with a satin clear coat. The paint was done by Jeff Simmons from L.A. Customs and the underside was painted with color matched epoxy. The paint is less than 3 months old and has never been exposed to anything. The Radiator is been set back apx. 2 inches and the hood cut to fit with custom louvers. The floor was custom fabricated with access panels for the master cyl. and battery. I have a complete and new wood trim set it is raw and would need to be color finished with whatever stain and finish you want. I also all new vin and Patented plates made for the firewall with the correct rivets, I actually shrieked wrapped the car for transport and she has remained cover in my shop since I picked her up.
The upholstery is completely new and has never even been sat in, it was professionally done by J.R.’s in Southern CA. He’s been featured in numerous hot rod and custom car magazines and is currently doing a job for L.A. housewife’s so it’s very nice, well done and show quality. I have a matching convertible top and original top bows which are not installed but the top is new in the box.
The instrument cluster is all brand new from the gauges to the newly restored “0” mile speedometer and the housing is not a cheap chrome repo, it’s a restored polished nickel housing and looks much nicer than the chrome one’s (also cost’s almost 10 x’s as much)
I wanted this car as a daily driver but things got way out of hand and has turned into a show vehicle and even if I did have the desire to finish her, to be honest I would be afraid to drive it for fear of getting a chip or any damage and I’m not a “trailer to show” guy so thought I would pass it one and let someone else finish and enjoy the rewards, my loss is definitely your gain as I know I can never recover what I have invested but would rather cut my losses and move on to my other toys than spend any more time, money and effort on this one.
Here’s what I know it still needs for competition: Drive shaft and windshield, however I personally would not use this style and would go with more of a sleek hot rod look (but that’s just me) I would add leather hood tie downs too. The wiring harness needs to be reconnected as it was disconnected for the paint work along with a battery and radiator hoses, finish the exhaust and spark plug wire ends (straight ends at the cap were never installed) I’m sure there are some minor trim and miscellaneous hardware missing as well as I don’t know every piece on the car, but all in all she is 98% complete with only minor finishing touches needed to put her on the road or enter the “show seen” I do have a clear and clean California title for her and is currently registered in CA. as that’s where I used to live and retired from, currently residing in East Texas and just got the car here last month from California. Please feel free to contact me (909-730-1153) with any questions or concerns and I will do my best to respond in a timely manor and share what I know if I have forgotten anything.
Now for the fine print LOL: I have tried my best to describe this to the best of my knowledge with either what I know to be fact or have been told. This vehicle is sold as is where is with no warrantee either expressed or implied, deposit ($1,000.00) is not refundable so PLEASE be sure your wife, girl friend, lover or significant other is OK with you purchasing this vehicle before you bid as I don’t want to be reasonable for a family feud or some poor guy sleeping in the dog house. Funds are expected within 7 days of auctions close and the vehicle cannot be released until funds have cleared. I will also work with any transport company in making arrangements for pickup as I’m retired and available most any time, I will also be happy to store the vehicle in my shop for a reasonable time to make transport arrangements. I have personally used DAS and have been VERY happy with them but that is only my opinion, please use however you may be comfortable with. I am not affiliated with them just had good service and reasonable pricing. I do reserve the right to end the auction early as I do have it for sale locally.

I have had a Gentleman request some additional pictures so I took a few more, showing the Rack and Pinion steering and the undercarriage. I don't know how to add them to the listing but if any one wants to see them please just ask and I'll do my best for forward them over. The undercarriage looks a good as the top side, and show the quality of workmanship and the perfect condition of even the things that can't be easily seen.
