1951 Ford Other Pickups F3 Additional Info:
This 1951 Ford F3 pickup truck is mostly unchanged from when it was used by the Town of North English, Iowa more than 36 years ago, except for one door access panel and maybe a handle by the emergency brake lever. It has the original 239 Flathead V8 engine and 4 speed transmission. It has the original wiring and 6 volt system with the generator and it has a almost new battery the spins the engine freely, but it does not start and run yet, maybe because the carburetor has not been rebuilt yet, or maybe it needs head gaskets, or something else. I just checked for a spark at a plug wire, but there is no spark so that could be it. I have not changed the spark plugs, wires, points, or anything else. I was hoping to put a new battery in it and spray some starter fluid in the carburetor and it would start and run, but it will not start, so I am selling it because I am 70 years old and I can not do the repairs needed to make this truck what it could be. Some of the wiring needs replaced due to frayed insulation. The body is very solid, but there is some rust on the floors inside the cab, some rust on the fenders, in the bed, and on the corners of the cab, as well as other places also not stated, but the doors both open and close and the door hinges are in good condition, but one door handle is loose and the other is broken and has a metalpiece welded to it for a handle, but it opens the door. All the glass has some cracks but does not need to be replaced at this time, and both door windows go up and down. The wheels are 16"and some lug nuts are missing and the tires are all old and have dry rot, but they hold air for moving the truck around. The exterior paint was Red but is now a rusty Red due to age and it has a great patina. Under the hood and inside the cab, the original Red paint shines againand has not been touched except for cleaning. The F3 truck is a 3/4 ton truck and is heavy duty, so it is built to last. On this truck is a floor lever emergency brake, mounted next to the gear shift, it used abrake mounted on the end of the transmission housing where the drive shaft attached. This type of brake was only used for a couple years and is very rare. The fenders are in good shape with only a little rust but there are some dents on the rear fenders and the mounting brackets are loose and need repaired. The gas tank was removed and cleaned and needs to be reinstalled. The seat is nothing but springs and needs to be recovered, but the frame is good and solid. The steering wheel is in fair condition and the front wheels turn when the wheel is moved. The condition of the brakes is unknown because the truck does notrun at this time and the brakes have not been checked, but the brake pedal goes all the way down, so there is a problem, maybe just air in the lines, but that is unknown. The clutch pedal is stiff and moves up and down freely and the gear shift moves freely into different gears, but has not been tested. There are several issues that have not been stated, but this is a great truck to make it like you want it, and it has a clear Virginia title. This truck has very low miles for its age, only 46,410 miles on the odometer, or 49,986 on the title, whichever is correct is very low.Included with this truck are some extra parts as seen in the pictures, 2 headlight housings, a gauge cluster, battery housing, a upper grill assembly with thehood latch, not sure what to call it, wiper motor, and other items, also the original tool tray is in the truck bed with some bolts and items.
This truck is old and all original except for one door access panel and a handle was added by the emergency brake, so it is sold as is. The sale requires a $500.00 deposit within 2 days after the close of the sale and the balance within 7 days, also the pickup and transport of the truck is the buyers responsibility and must be removed within 10 days after the sale ends, or contact the seller for arrangements.Thank you for looking...the key is in the ignition and ready to go....
