This is NOT a modern day Rat Rod! Buy this incredible car and you are on your way to T.R.O.G !! You are viewing an authentic example of early drag racing history, when young men full of “vim and vigor” expressed their mechanical prowess by modifying early cars to fill the need for speed! This 1923 Ford Model T was built sometime in the late mid to late 1955, It was fitted with the famous Red Ram Hemi and like so many others of the day driven to the drag strip, wherever it might be in those early days.
This car was found in a barn in Oak Harbor, Washington (yes, another barn find) around 1960. It stayed there until an old time hot-rodder found it in 1970. From the barn the car was moved to his garage near Seattle. He started the car, but didn’t drive it, as the brakes needed work. As he told me, it ran real good, and I decided to freshen it up and drive it someday”Well as things go, someday turned into 47 years, and the car was still on stands when we acquired it. The engine is complete and turns over easily. It will run.
Finding a real drag car from the 1950s isn’t an everyday happening. We tried to find out some history on the car, but unfortunately we haven't found anyone that might have been able to shed some light on it .The car has a Red Ram 241 Hemi engine, what appears to be a 1939 Ford gear box tied to a 1940 Ford rear axle and hydraulic brakes, (not certain) It also has 1940 Ford hydraulic front brakes, gas tank in the back and nitro tank in the front.
The Red Ram Hemi sports an original and very early Offenhauser Tri-Power intake with Ford 94 carburetors. The engine has been disassembled for inspection and rebuild. it There are solid 15 inch wheels and 4 matching 1936 Ford wire wheels too. Included are the old wide-whitewall tires, and original wide white wall drag slicks. There are several boxes of parts that came with the car and they are included. I appears that everything to put the car back together to run and drive is there. Here is a great opportunity for you to own this remarkable and important survivor of the early days of drag racing history that you can drive on the street. We will crate all the parts for transport.
After looking at our work schedule we have decided to sell a number of our projects. If you have a question(s) that is not covered in the listing you can call 253-514-5471 If no one answers it means we are making too much noise in the shop and cannot hear the phone. Please a message. Clear title Will consider trades.
NOTE: We have received many inquiries from around the world regarding the car. It appears that many of you would like to own it, but lack the skills to assemble it or restore it. We will restore the car to run and drive for the BUY it NOW price. We can leave the old paint and patina currently showing or whatever you prefer. The engine, brakes, wheels, wiring, floor, seat will be rebuilt with new parts. The Buy it Now will include the purchase of the car, and all parts, materials and labor to complete to run and drive. It would be ready for street use or the Race of Gentlemen! Contact us for details as needed. You will be responsible to transporting it.
