1966 Ford F-100 Custom Cab – One Owner!!!
What a great history! This truck was purchased off the show room floor in Hutchinson, Kansas in 1966 where it lived for 47 years before undergoing a complete restoration coordinated by the original owner which was completed in 2013.
Since that time the vehicle has been in secured indoor storage and has never seen a drop of rain. Many upgrades were completed during the restoration including:
· A $ 12k custom, triple pearl paint job. The exterior of this truck is as perfect as you will find and is show quality. The bed and tail gate are protected by color matched RhinoLiner topped with a diamond plate truck box that is clamped in to eliminate need for drilled holes. The bed is lined with 1” rubber matting to protect the bed which is in excellent condition.
A complete interior makeover included new headliner, seat cover, carpet, upgraded stereo w/ CD player and speakers, diamond plated dash, upgraded steering wheel, upgraded door panels, and the addition of a tachometer.
· Under the hood the original 352 was completely rebuilt including high performance steel pistons, new Summit Racing cam, all new bearings and seals, new exhaust, and new water pump, new alternator, new wiring, new Edelbrock intake and new carburetor. This is a better than new engine.
· The four speed transmission was upgraded to a higher geared certified Ford transmission to improve drivability. The original transmission comes with the vehicle.
· The steering was upgraded to rack and pinion power steering and is tighter than any new truck you drive off the lot today.
· Wheels were upgraded to new Cragars and the tires are at 90% or better.
· No expense was spared in this restoration. For example, the grill alone was $ 1,000. All chrome and trim is in excellent condition and all glass is in excellent condition.
This truck runs and drives like a dream with no leaks, rattles, or distractions.
As a collector I try and call out every known item about a vehicle. There are two items that keep this truck from being a consistent best of show winner. There is a very small crack in the dash. Most folks would never see it but it is there and needs to be noted. Also, the area under the hood and the underside of the truck are in great shape but not show quality.
I purchased this truck in 2014 from the original owner for my collection and the only reason I am selling it is to make room for a 1962 Corvette convertible that I recently purchased. I have another 1966 Ford truck that I drive more often and decided to put this one out there for someone else to enjoy.
