1965 Ford Galaxie 500 Additional Info:
I am selling my 1965 Galaxie 500. It has a 289 with a 3 speed on the column. This is a original unrestored car with 15,995 original miles. It still has its original firestone tires.I did a lot of research to confirm the original miles which is obvious after looking at the car.I spoke a lot with the family that owned the car to gather its history as well. It spent most of its life stored in the garage and used primarily as a Sunday car. As kids they said it was always in the garage and many of them do not remember even seeing it ever driven. Those that do say it was only for short local drives to church which was 3 miles away. The car still has oil change stickers and service stickers in it that verify the miles are correct as well. 6-9-66 it was serviced with 1524 miles.11-6-75 shows a service with 14,622 original miles1982 shows a service of 15,725 original milesin 1984 the family said their father took it to be oil sprayed and serviced and that was the last time the car had been driven. That receipt shows the original miles that day of 15,976.When I purchased the car it was a time capsule. I went through the car and replaced the points, condenser, oil change, voltage regulator, fuel pump, fuel tank, fuel sending unit, thermostat and flushed the radiator. All things I knew would need replaced with a car that sat so long. I had the original carburetor professionally rebuilt as well.I kept all the original parts I replaced and managed to find some NOS parts.I have only driven the car in and out of the garage. It starts, runs and shifts excellent. The brakes are very stiff. I was planning on replacing the master cylinder before driving it on the road. I have the new master cylinder, but have not installed it yet.
The interior is completely original and in amazing condition as you would expect from a very low mile car. everything on the car works as it should. The headliner has no wear or rips. The seats and dash have no wear or rips. It is truly like new.All the chrome is excellent but only the mirrors have some pitting. The body is straight and clean. All the factory gaps and weather strip are still in excellent condition. The doors, hood and trunk close like you would expect a new car to. All the paint appears to be original and showing its age with fading. There are no signs of rust on the body. The underside of the car and lower firewall was oil sprayed in 1984 which prevented any rust.
This is an amazing car and possibly one of the most original and lowest mileage galaxie 500s in existence. Please feel free to message me with any questions.
