1957 Ford Thunderbird E Bird Additional Info:
Ford was looking for something to compete with the Chevrolet Corvette which started to show quickly as a popular segment but didn't want to pursue the sports car necessary but created a segment all of its own. With the clever marketing plan in place Ford began the production of the Ford Thunderbird in 1955 as a Personal Car segment and although it was very much a sporty two-seater convertible just like the Corvette it paid more attention to luxury and comfort more so than the competition. Ford ...introduced its 1957 models on October 1 1956. In addition to the new-for-1957 styling the big news that really caught buyers' attention was a choice of four powerplants. Among them was the optional 312-ci E-code variant producing 270 horsepower through a modified Holley dual 4-barrel setup borrowed from the 1956 Lincoln. 21380 examples rolled off the production line that year and just 977 were believed to be produced with the vaunted E-code option. GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this wonderful example of the 1957 Ford Thunderbird "E-Bird" for your consideration. Featuring what is believed to be its original 312ci V8 mated to its smooth shifting 3-speed transmission this is a real time capsule with almost all the options available from the factory added! The black and white interior is held together very well and pairs great to the Raven Black exterior that is also in superb condition. It has plenty of curb appeal in Raven Black able to show off all of the lines of one of the most popular body styles of all-time. All of the sheet metal on this Bird is believed to be original; the vehicle also has recently been resprayed in the last few years. This car has been left original and reflects the way when it left the Dearborn MI plant. Please call or email us for more information on this 1957 Ford Thunderbird E-Bird.
