This '68 is obviously a bit cosmetically challenged. However, it is a very solid example of the breed. Still wearing its original floors & quarter panels it would be an excellent candidate for a cosmetic restoration. The Numbers Matching 302 runs well, C4 shifts well and it drives out surprisingly well. Turn signals, brake & headlights all work properly too.
The body on this one is solid. The floors & quarters appear to be the originals. While there is the obvious 'Patina' the panels are good. There was prior front end damage that was professionally repaired using reproduction components. The work was very clean, done at the spot welds as it would be in a high end restoration. There were also repairs done on the front door corners due to the typical bubbling. The rear quarters while very solid, do have some minor bubbling at the rear behind the tires. The trunk floor was painted with a rubberized undercoating for some reason but the metal underneath appears solid both top and bottom. Lower quarter panel drop offs and frame rails are all quite solid too.
Inside the Factory Decor Interior has been freshened up just a bit. The dash pad, instrument bezel, woodgrain dash panels and door panels were replaced with new units replacing some sun damaged units. The seats do show sun damage but present well. The carpet is faded and worn. Both the overhead and floor consoles appear to be in good condition but the upper could usea new wood trim. The fold down seat latches are missing but new reproduction units are readily available. The gauges all work with the exception of the clock and amp gauge which is typical of the breed.
Under the hood the 302 is the Numbers Matching Engine. This is the 'J-Code' 4 Barrel engine. It runs quite well and sounds great. The C4 Automatic Transmission works nicely.
The braking system was also just serviced including new wheel cylinders, master cylinder and new front brake hoses.
