1965 Ford Mustang Additional Info:

What you are looking at is a creation that was born a Mazda Miata in 1992 and is being transformed into a 1965 Mustang GT Convertible Roadster. I have a finished one for sale on ebay right now. Check it out to see what these can look like done. This is one of the most unique car creations you will find. I have many cars, but this one has always been my absolute favorite. The body is all steel except for the hood which is glass. It's not as simple as taking a 65 Mustang fender and bolting it onto a Miata. Not by a long shot. All this steel was a fabricating stretch of imagination and expertise. It's easier to stand in front of it and point it all out and show the many obstacles and remedies of making it work instead of typing. At this stage in the build, it's very satisfying to see it coming together. This car, as opposed to the finished one, has the "R" chin spoiler, Eleanor Hood and Shelby rear spoiler. It was also being built for an automatic transmission. Car is titled as a 1992 Miata. I'm not sure of the miles on the donor car. What I have in that field is a guess.
What is included with the car is all the body conversion already done, the converted engine compartment already to accept the V-8 engine. The motor mounts are already installed. The engine is included. It's a fresh rebuilt Mustang GT 5.0 engine. A real rebuild. The cylinders were bored, mild cam, new crank etc.. It was all replaced or rebuilt. The build should produce approx 300 HP. There is no windshield included. Much of the interior is included. I have many boxes of parts to finish the build including bumpers and a freshly built Ford AOD transmission. I have Headlight assemblies and tail lights as well. The tail lights include sequential tail light electrical kit. All the really tricky work has been done. Fitting the body panels and all the weld work takes hundreds of hours. Maybe more. Finished and running, this is going to be a one of a kind bad assed car.
These cars are really fun to drive. Really fun. My daughter and I would take our other one to car shows and we would love watching everyone try to figure out what it was. We even watched a member of authority from the Central Florida Mustang Club explain to a small crowd of people how a section of the chassis was removed and welded together to remove the back seat and turn it into a roadster. It was fun to debunk his theory.
The other car was a prototype that was used to approach Ford with to see if they would consider building these in their product line. After all, Mazda and Ford were already in bed together. That's another story by itself but an interesting side note to it's resume. My other car has also graced some magazine covers 20 or so years ago. It has lived in my air conditioned and heated storage facility.
