1966 Ford Galaxie 500XL Additional Info:
Car began as a complete and rust-freeSouthern vehicle showing 48,000 plus miles. It was completely disassembled and all body panels, frame, a-frames, radiator support, inner fenders, etc. were media blasted. The frame and components were coated with POR-15. The straight, rust-free body had its color changed from maroon to PPG black and clearcoat. The underbody is also painted black and clearcoated. The chassis was reassembled with all new body insulators, bushings, bearings, seals, drum brakes and hardware, dual bowl master cylinder and power booster, Koni shocks on the front, Gabriel Hijackers on the rear, new coil springs, and new oversize Addco sway bars front and rear. A new gas tank andstainless steel brake and fuel lines were installed. Rear differential is a 28 spline open type with 3.00 to 1 gears. I have a new set of Richmond 4.11 to 1 gears and a Detroit locker that go with the car. Wheels are 15x8 reversed Cragars with BFG radial TA tires. The body has both a replica Thunderbolt style hood and a stock hood. Both were painted at the same time as the car so they would match. Exterior door handles, taillight bezels, taillight lenses, parking light lenses, and assorted body and trim gaskets are new, NOS, or NORS. All aluminum and stainless trim has been polished. Bumpers, grille, headlight bezels, and misc. chrome have been replated. Car has all new weatherstripping, window "fuzzies", and insulation. The trunk has been detailed with splatter paint and a new mat. The interior has new carpet and mats, new headliner, and the dashpad was redone by "Just Dashes". The main dash bezel and the armrest bezels have been replated. It has the rareAM/FM radio with front and rear speakers. The bucket seats need new seat buns and the bottom of the driver's seat reupholstered. I just haven't found someone I feel comfortable with to do it yet. The transmission is the original C6 that has been rebuilt and is fitted with a 2800 rpm stall converter. The engine is the original 390 with a .030 overbore. It has TRW forged pistons, Sealed Power rings, and Clevite 77 bearings. The crankshaft has been ground .010 on the main and rod journals. The rods are full-floating and have been resized and fitted with ARP bolts. The whole assembly was balanced. It has a Melling oil pump and shaft. Fel-Pro high performance gaskets are used throughout. It has a Cloyes roller timing set, Edelbrock Performer RPM cam & lifters, Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum heads with ARP bolts, Harlan Sharpe roller rockers and shafts with ARP studs, an Edelbrock Performer RPM polished intake manifold, and is topped off with a Demon 750 cfm carburetor with vacuum secondaries and electric choke. It has finned aluminum "Cobra Le Mans" logo valve covers. Hooker Super Competiton ceramic coated headers that dump into a stock exhaust with Cherry Bomb mufflers. Ignition is a stock Ford unit with an Accel electronic conversion kit and MSD coil. Spark plug wires are from Ford Racing. A two-stage NOS system finishes it off. The alternator is a chrome 100 amp from TuffStuff. Engine was assembled with an ARP polished stainless steel bolt set. I have both a recored heavy duty 3-row stock radiator and a Griffin aluminum radiator with electric fan that go with the car. Griffin is installed now. The car is excellent, fun to drive, and a constant show winner. It was invited to participate at the 2016 Ford Nationals in Carlisle, Pa. representingFord Galaxies of 1966. I have the original parts that go with the car with the exceptions of the original steel wheels and the AC compressor. Please call with any questions before 9:00 PM. Ph 270/566-0757.
