1962 Ford Galaxie 500 Additional Info:
This is a rust-free Texas car since new; has only 31,000 actual miles but sat unused for the last 25-30 years, so we have rebuilt or replaced the entire brake system, fuel system, tires, and overhauled the 352 V-8 because we found 5 bent push-rods and it looked as if the oil had not been changed regularly--probably some elderly person who never got it warmed up and only took short, around-town trips. It did not require a re-bore nor crankshaft turning; has new standard bearings, standard piston rings, new cam, gears, and chain, new lifters, new valves, new gaskets, rebuilt carburetor (2-barrel), cleaned and disassembled oil pump, cleaned oil pan, new power brake booster and master cylinder, new gas tank and float/sending unit, new belts and hoses, new battery, four brand new tires, new wheel cylinders, new brake hoses, new fuel pump, new water pump, new thermostat. We have rebuilt many antique car engines here in my shop and we know what we are doing. Car starts on the first crank and runs/drives beautifully. Transmission shifts like it should, and it is the three-speed Cruise-o-Matic not the cheap two-speed; have not touched the factory A/C but all the components are there; good exhaust system (single exhaust).
This car handles well and is quick on its feet with the 352 V-8--a pleasure to drive. Needs a headliner and a radio antenna. Has power steering, power brakes, factory A/C, clock, AM radio, heater, defroster, tinted glass all the way around, no cracked glass; full wheel covers, one repaint years ago in the original color; one small, shallow dent at right rear corner, good chrome, no rattles, no squeaks, no funny noises, no wear on the foot pedals; front carpet has some stains and rips so you might want to replace that in the future. Trunk has the original trunk mat in good shape, original bumper jack and there are two spare tires.
This Galaxie is ready to be enjoyed, just drive it and go anywhere. You will need to get it licensed if you plan to drive it home, or I can help load it onto a transporter. I am 350 miles north of the flooded area, so no flood damage here. Hood, trunk, and doors line up nicely and close easily. All lights and gauges work. Clock does not work.
Can deliver this to a shipping exporter in Houston for additional cost. You will search a long time to find a nicer, more original '62 Galaxie than this one, for less than $10,000. Interior is completely original and unrestored. Located in Bonham, Texas 75418, about 70 miles northeast of Dallas.
Please be serious about bidding. If you want to inspect the car, please do so before the auction ends, not afterwards. I expect a $500 down payment within 48 hours of auction's conclusion, and full payment of the balance within seven days of auction's end. I can store the car here for one month after auction's end. Longer than that, and you need to make arrangements for storage or pay me for storage.
