This is a true 1938 Ford Coupe built into a beautiful and fast 50’s “B Class” Vintage Outlaw Race Car. It was built years ago and ran in Iowa for years until it was retired from racing in the early 90’s. It spent its retirement as more of a show car. It will take very little to get it back into being competitive again. The current owner purchased it last year with the intentions of putting it on the road as a unique street rod. Plans have changed so it’s being offered for sale. He does have a clean NJ title and this car has a VIN number as well!
It features a 1938 Ford body and frame, Transverse leaf spring suspension, big 295 cid 24 Stud ’48-‘53 Flathead motor built by Auto Rons in Davenport, Iowa. Isky 400 JR Solid Lifter Cam, Aluminum Offenhauser Heads, Aluminum Offy Intake with dual Ford 94 Carburetors, Electric Fuel Pump, MSD Spark Box, Mallory Voltmaster Coil, Electronic Ignition, Taylor wires, Headers, 39 Ford Transmission, Fuel Cell, Battery Box, Hoosier Tires, D&M Performance Seat, Racing Harness, Window Net, Sunpro Super Tach II, Sunpro Temp gauge with warning light, Stewart Warner Oil Pressure gauge with warning light. It runs very strong, has lots of power and drives like it should. As with any older car, I always recommend going over it before you go back out on the track with it but I don't see any reason why you couldn't pick it up and take it out on the track the next weekend.
This is a very cool race car and has had several featured wins at the 34 Raceway in Burlington, Iowa. This would make a great race car for you or a super bad ass street car if you are so inclined to add the right safety items (lights, turn signals, etc). I’m sure you will have questions and I will do my best to answer them.
