1993 Ford Explorer Limited Sport Utility 4-Door Additional Info:
Hey all,
This is my 1993 Ford Explorer Limited. It has an awesome Jurassic Park Tour Vehicle conversion! We spent a ton of time researching the correct colors, paint patterns and parts. The stripes, graphics and colors are as close as possible using several screen shots of the movie and photos of the movie vehicles in production. It looks as close as possible to the real thing!
I started with the best first generation Explorer I could find. It is a fully loaded 1993 Limited 4x4 that had just a tick over 95k miles on it when I bought it (now has 102k on a 5 digit odometer). It was in good original condition and had been a solid southern vehicle. It was well maintained and cared for by an elderly man before I purchased it from his estate. It has absolutely no rust and every body panel appears be factory original, no aftermarket stuff.
It is a Limited model, so that includes 2-tone leather interior, factory sunroof, fog lights and upgraded trim. The interior is in excellent condition. The drivers seat has been reupholstered and the other seats are in good original shape. The carpet and trim is all nice and all the power options work like they should. It has all its original factory floormats and a carpeted dash cover. There is a crack in the dash pad and the headliner is worn in a couple spots but is still holding up.A new headliner was next on my wish list.
Mechanically, its in great shape. It starts, runs and drives just like you'd expect from a 93 explorer. The engine is powerful and quiet and the transmission shifts properly. The air conditioner is nice and cold and the heater works good. It has new front brakes and hub bearings. All the fluids and routine maintenance are up to date. All the electric options work fine, windows, locks, cruise control, etc. The only thing I have never chased down is the 4x4 switch. It doesn't do anything. It doesn't light up, click or anything. The switchprobably needs replacement. I never had a need for the 4x4 so I never dealt with it. I had a nice newer CD player with an AUX jack installed so the sound system is nice. It has an aftermarket alarm/keyless entry system that works great and has 2 working remotes. It has an aftermarket class III trailer hitch with a working wiring harness and newer air-shocks in the rear. I installed a nice set of white letter Goodyear Wrangler AT tires. They're 235/75r15. I drove it from Atlanta to Raleigh, NC and back last October and then to Orlando and back in February (7 hours one way). It ran and drive great, without a glitch. It has all its correct emission parts and passes Georgia emissions test with no problems.
On the Jurassic Park conversion, I spent MONTHS looking for an appropriate Grille Guard. They are amazingly difficult to find for a first generation explorer. It is correct for the vehicle along with the tail light guards. I added a matching roof basket and a small '10,000 volts' sign on top like the one on the T-Rex enclosure just for fun. It has the right style of lights on the grille guard and on the cowl as well as theappropriate rectangular lights on the roof. I added a big CB antenna on the drivers door just like in the movie.I bought all of the auxiliary lights new, but didn'twire them up. Georgia law doesn't allow auxiliary lights above the headlights so I didn't wire them up to avoid any issues with my local police. I installed the correct grille and wheels to match the movie vehicles.
The paint job was professionally done in basecoat/clearcoat. The vehicle was originally dark green. The factory finish was prepped and sprayed completelyin the burgundy-red color. Then all the 'tiger stripes' were drawn out and masked. Next the entire vehicle was sprayed lime green and then the yellow fade 2-tone was added. Then the masking was removed revealing the burgundy-red stripes and the entire vehicle was sprayed with 2 coats of catalyzed clear coat. A local sign shop was hired to manufacture the door and hood logos. They were professionally installed andare correct down to the inch to the movie vehicles. I then added my favorite quote from the movie to the rear glass :)
This vehicle gets an amazing amount of attention! I have had lots of cool cars over the years but none of them stop traffic quite like this one does. Prepare yourself for cameras pointed at you at every stoplight, people filming you in traffic and a crowd around the vehicle at every gas station and parking lot. Kids will freak out when they see it and even little old ladies will smile and wave. Its truly an amazing vehicle to drive.
Email me with any questions and I can take additional photos if need be. This is an awesome looking and good running vehicle, but keep in mind that its still a 1993 explorer. It isn't perfect but it will take you wherever you want to go with tons of people following you along the way! You can fly into Atlanta and drive it home if you'd like. Shipping will be up to the buyer. $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of auctions end and full balance due within 7 days.
Good luck bidding!
