- 1969 F-250 Ranger Camper Special 390 -
NO RESERVE on this daily-driver classic pickup.
The quick facts:
390 FE Big Block / T-18 / Dana 60 w/ 3.73
Original paint. Not a butchered or cut-up truck.
Daily driver.
I changed the oil, did a carb-kit, and then put a few hundred miles on this old girl. Been working out the little quirks. Now It's a turn-key truck, drive it away! Actual mileage is unknown. She's no powerhouse, but not a lemon either. Just a used old pickup, just the way you might expect to find here in the farm country of Southern Idaho.
Originally equipped with a C-6 Automatic, the previous owner put in a T-18 4-speed manual transmission. Still retains automatic steering column if someone wanted to re-vert. The T-18 was Ford's standard duty transmission with granny low, and then 2-3-4 synchronizedand reverse up and over to the right. A little slop between 2nd and 3rd, as is common to these transmissions. Not any deal-breaker.
She needs some loving. Here's the immediate needs;
Windshield is cracked. Small rust holes in the rear corners of each door. Speedo not working.
In the future? Fresh lungs someday would be nice. I'd rather you decide which direction to take this old pickup. She'll go anywhere but down in value. Restore? Use as is? Build a sleeper? Put the body on a big 4x4? The opportunities are endless. But regardless she won't disappoint.
VIN shows that truck is wearing it's original colors. Light Ivy Yellow over Wimbledon White. Lot's of Ranger trim still in good shape. The grille is really nice with exception of the passenger side headlight cover.
Photos will show you very clearly the condition of this truck. I've taken images of the worst areas for your close inspection. Some small rust issues in the doors as mentioned. A few little pin-holes under the cab, also shown in photos. That's the worst of it. Overall pretty dang solid! Seat is original, but tore up under the cover. Bed is solid. Floors solid. Everything works.
Starts nice when cold, as demonstrated in the video. Runs a bit rich. The carb is an Auto-lite2100 2v with 1.33 venturi size. Probably a bit rich for the old 390. I don't think the carb is original to the truck. Choke cable is farm-rigged!
Drives nice and straight. Steering is tight. Brakes work good. I'd not hesitate to take this truck on a cruise 300-400 miles. Much more than that? Probably going to want to ship it. 16" steel wheels with original hubcaps. Tires about 30%. 235/85/16.
Has dual tanks. I haven'ttried operating on the Aux. tank. Approximate44 gallon total capacity.
1967-1972 Bumpside Ford pickups is what I do. I know exactly what to look for in these trucks. Please see my feedback for previous testimonials. Lot's more trucks to come this spring. Contact me if you have questions, or want a head-start on viewing our current inventory. LOTS of trucks to be sold. High desert Idaho/Oregon/Montana/Nevada/Arizona survivors. I ship all over the world.
