FOR SALE via eBay 7 day auction (with NO RESERVE): 1978 Ford Ranchero 500 in excellent condition (it is NOT Mint, nor is it cosmetically perfect); runs well and drives well, the odometer mileage is 67,592 original miles (possibly a few more miles now, since I do drive it occasionally). The starting auction price has been set at a reasonable amount of $7000.
This vehicle has the 5.0 Liter (302 cubic inch) V8 small block engine, coupled to the C4 three speed automatic transmission. I once owned an early 1970's Ford Ranchero with the big block engine and C6 transmission, and I like this small block / C4 combination a lot better. It has power steering and brakes, and air conditioning, however the windows are manual roll up. The interior is in excellent condition (see photos). It has the original AM/FM mono radio which works fine, as do all of the dashboard instruments (with the exception of the analog dash clock, which does not run). Also included are the original 14 inch wire wheel covers (see photos) and two full sets of original keys.
The engine starts easily and runs well, with no fluid leaks or exhaust smoke. The car rides well with no significant noise or rattles. To get the vehicle ready for its new owner, the following service has been performed: changed engine oil and filter, flushed the transmission and power steering with Motorcraft Type F fluid, replace air filter element, changed rear axle lubricant, replaced battery cables and heater hoses. The front tires are brand new, and the rear tires are good. It has the original spare tire, jack, lug wrench handle and owner's manual. The vehicle has apparently had some minor paint and body work done over the years, which appears to have been professionally done. For example, a hole in the driver's side floor pan was repaired professionally. In addition, the exhaust system and rear air shocks are relatively new; and there is a new cocoa floor mat and a heavy rubber mat in the bed.
I purchased the vehicle from an estate liquidator, and the previous owner was an older gentleman who was a long term owner (probably the original owner). It is currently titled and registered as an antique auto in Pennsylvania, but it could be converted back to a standard registration for daily driving if desired. It is being sold to free up indoor space, as my wife has a new car coming; and she has requested that I sell one of the autos in my three car classic collection to free up indoor parking space for her new car.
The car is garaged in Hawley, PA (zip code 18428) and can be seen and driven on the weekend days after 5 PM. A deposit of $500.00 is due via PayPal within 48 hours of the end of the auction, with the balance due in cash or bank check upon vehicle pick up (within 10 days).
This vehicle is being sold "AS ISâ€, with NO WARRANTY of any type, neither expressed nor implied. I reserve the right to reject bids from bidders with little or no positive feedback.
